Why continue to monitor your child even at adulthood?

When I was in the university, many a moon ago, I knew many of my housemates who were just hanging around haven been advised to withdraw for poor performance, or even rusticated for cult activities etc and they were still collecting school fees from mommy and daddy at home, fooling them.

There should even be open day, where the parents and lecturers interact, and parents get to see the projects worked on by students in their children's department.

I remember then, there used to be exhibition from various departments in the days leading up to convocation. Each department displayed their projects for family members.

Architecture department always carried the day with our scaled-down models and tantalizing 3ds. wink

Lol.Do you have kids?

When my kids start paying for their own education, then they can tell me to butt out of their affairs.

As long as I am paying their way through the university, Oga, abeg bone story o.

Their social lives on campus is theirs. But their academic progress is OURS. You don't let your investments run themselves without occasional monitoring, do you?

And iI don't care how the Oyinbos do it, this is the best way for Nigerian education.

When you get to Masters class, you can do as you like.

Every so often, we get Nairalanders here who post that they had extra years or have been asked to withdraw from the institution but don't know how to tell their parents.

A simple login by the parent will inform them. Chikena! Lobatan.

FUTMINNA, arguably the best school in Nigeria in two decades. The layout of the Bosso campus has been the best in best I have seen in Nigeria, the innovations in Gidan Kwanu has been unparalleled. My kids would have to attend this school too.

If one still fails with such a system, then something is badly wrong, either individual lack of capacity, bad parental upbringing etc

This is brilliant concept. Imagine the concept being used to share accounting information of MDAs and govt institutions to interested parties. Most schools will find it hard to mismanage their funds. It is a nice concept.
They are not publishing HIV status or Drug test result to parents but academic related info. I am sure even foreign universities will copy it.
Last year we saw a UK university hinting that they will be demanding drug test from students. Some information are even good for the school reputation.

Exactly my point. Back in school then, lecturers were tasked by the university not let any student who didn't meet the minimum 75% attendance in class into the exam hall, even Masters students.
