A Greek man missed the Ethiopian Airlines flight that crashed on Sunday shortly after takeoff from Addis Ababa airport, killing all 157 people on board, Greek media reported.

Antonis Mavropoulos, president of the International Solid Waste Association, a non-profit organization, was supposed to board the plane bound for Nairobi, Kenya, which crashed about 45 km southeast of the Ethiopian capital, he told Greek television channel Alpha.



Mavropoulos reached the gate only two minutes after it was closed. He recalled feeling mad watching behind the glass wall other passengers boarding the aircraft.

Mavropoulos was about to board another plane when airport staff told him that the aircraft he missed had gone missing. He was shocked when he was later informed about the tragedy.


"This is one of those moments which are changing one's perspective of life... You realize that our lives are hanging from threads... I just want to send many kisses to my wife, my mother and my daughter," he told Alpha during a telephone conversation.

Grace is sufficient for us all, yes, but the level of Grace also differs. I don't know why. Like I said, some things do not have answers. Why did death select some and leave others? Why did He show mercy to this Greek man, but that mercy didn't extend to the 157 lost souls?

Why, despite all our faults do we still live and thrive? My dear, I have no answers. All I can say is it is grace that maketh the difference.

The scripture you quoted is talking about mercy and not grace. Mercy is like forgiveness and comes after sin is committed.

My dear, just like we are unlucky sometimes to miss opportunities in life, the man was lucky to have missed an opportunity to die. Does he need to thank God, yes he needs to thank Him for being lucky.

See, luck is carnal because it is attributed to chance. What he needs to do is thank God for the grace to have missed the flight. Not luck. I don't believe in luck, I believe in favour. If we miss an opportunity, either it is not for us or there are other factors involved.

Nigerian pastors always preach out of content and scope of the Bible, giving unnecessary interpretation to every single phrase in the holy book and you're one of their victims. In Nigeria, there are two groups of people today. Those who work hard, smart to survive and those who wait on some grace or favour to make it, please don't be among the latter.
