It is true but southern Kaduna people hate of muslims is very annoying. I commend u for the ur comment.

Be honest: we hate them about as much as they hate us.

And that, Sir, is the problem. Is hate necessary? How does that make us feel better at night?

Can any christian or muslim honestly refer to their Holy Books and show us where God says you should hate the opposite?

In our blind hatred we even refused to accept that our religions have a lot more in common than differences.

Muslims adore Jesus (ISA PBUH) and cannot mention his name without honoring it, Mary has a whole chapter in the Quran, Abraham, Moses, Noah, John the Baptist....they're all in the Quran.

The Bible is the second most holy book in islam (the "Injeel", or Gospel) then the Taurah (old testament).

So what the heck are we even fighting for?

If we insist on hating, shouldn't we get together and collectively hate Buddhists and Hindus, whose religion is nothing like the Abrahamaic religion?

This is the kind of confusion where christians think they've more in common with Judaism, who don't believe in Jesus, than Muslims, who do but with the caveat that he's a revered messenger of God of the immaculate conception.

Look, there's very little empirical, scientific, and hard evidence that either god exists, so we might just be wasting our time, who knows? But if we chose to believe in something, it is our right and we shouldn't be hated for it.

I dont like the sentiments of Southern kaduna christians, i dont like the way igbos are insulting us, i don't like the way the yorubas are so condescending to our intelligence by seeing us as a giant writhing mass of illiteracy and decrepitude....but i certainly dont hate their faith.

The point is, we all hate each other, and until we confront that hatred and stop spreading it, we're all doomed to fail.

I remember when things were not this bad and we loved our neighbors no matter their faith....i'm nostalgic for that reality...

...I don't want to be in fear when I visit Jos or Numan,

...I'd wish we can tone it down a bit. We're the loudest people when it comes to religion. I dont like us blaring everything on loudspeakers, other people deserve their peace.

If you want to be preached at, meet with the preacher in your temple and do it within the ambiance. Every muslim should know when it's time for prayers if you do it 5 times a day, why do I need some loudspeaker blaring at 5am when I can set my own personal alarm?

Why must we shout our beliefs all over rooftops and take over the airwaves?

cheesy cheesy @the bold. That's what Christians and Muslims don't know. Infact, I am sure that both religions are worshipping imaginary deities unfortunately which were forced down their throats by foreigners. Yet they hate and kill each other for it.

It's bad enough that we hate ourselves because of tribes we had no say in how we found ourselves there but you can at least make an informed choice about the imaginary sky daddy you devote your life to? Can't you see that it's all a means of control?

Why hate your neighbor because of a god you were forced to accept at the point of slavery?

That's what they thought... Apostle Suleiman added to this too

People like Suleiman and a whole host of such pastors are showboaters and opportunists. They use the climate to drum their agenda into the followers and keep them in a perpetual state of fear, uncertainty and doubt such that they'll have power over them by using prayers as a means of succor and relief. These Pentecostal churches are really harping on the divide to fan the flames of hate.

Apologies to anyone offended by the above, but it's my impression of what they do.

Some churches like Deeper Life seem truly about salvation and less about politics. At least that's how it seems to me.

However, we too have imams who whip up sentiments all day in mosques, and sow the seed of intolerance in their followers.

You're a rare gem. May whatever you serve bless you. I wish El Rufai will see this post of yours and act accordingly.

El Rufai is an excellent administrator but a terrible politician. He should do better. He did more than Buhari to turn folks against APC, not just in kaduna but all over the country. If he's thinking of VP and possibly president, then he needs to improve in inter faith and inter ethnic relations

El rufai likes to believe he's some enfant terrible in Nigeria. His choosing a muslim as his deputy was just grandstanding and a hollow statement.

With or without a muslim deputy he's bound to win, so what was the point of inflaming passions for a mere political rhetoric that has no intrinsic value?

kaduna needs tact and wisdom, not a circus clown who feels he's duty-bound to make political statements to appease one side and deflate another.

One upon a time Kaduna was the political center of Nigeria, rich in political capital. Then the game of sentiments came on and reduced us to a Plateau or Taraba. That sheen and aura is long gone....and the atmosphere is one heavily pregnant with uncertainty and tension.

We'll all breathe a sigh of relief when he finally leaves.

Nope! Sometimes it's about equity! Read about the evolution of the Belgium political system, they were having political tensions and wars until they enshrined it in the Constitution to have the 3 major ethnic group have a percentage representation in every government! The major groups are the German Belgians, the Dutch Belgians and the French Belgians!

True.

Like I said elsewhere, not every society is homogeneous enough to practice true democracy where majority carries the vote.

In mixed or heterogeneous societies compromises work best.

The country that even popularized the phrase "majority carries the vote", the US, does not even practice true democracy of numbers, else Clinton would've been in the WH and not a certain Mr Trump

You are completely wrong about this your position on Call to Prayer by Muslims.

Calling to prayer (Adhan) loud over the loudspeakers has become almost mandatory in Islam where there is no imminent threat in doing so. A call to prayer doesn't last for more than 3 minutes at most. This is 15 minutes a day and why this should be a source of worry to anyone is beyond common sense. Can call to prayer by muslims be likened to the endless preaching over the loudspeaker, day and night, by Christians?

I can't blame El Rufai for choosing a muslim deputy for the fact that it was undiluted hatred he was repaid with even with a Christian deputy.

I mean, there is a limit to what anyone can stomach in any given circumstance. He has dared the consequences of choosing a Muslim mate and he has triumphed.

The high time the CAN in Kaduna, and indeed in Nigeria, retrace their divisive steps.

Only a biased commentator will argue against the fact that the Christian leaders in Nigeria fan the embers of divisiveness through their numerous hate preachings.

No where in any part of the Quran or Hadith does it say Adhan must be proclaimed loudly over loudspeakers. But there are verses where the rights of others are extolled as fundamental parts of Taqwa.

In a monocultural society sure, you can blare away. But in a multicultural environment where you can impede the rights of others, you can perform your rites in ways that are acceptable to Islam without infringement.

This is similar to how muslims block public roads during friday and Eid prayers as some sort of divine or cosmic rights.

No.

You cannot block public passageways and deny others their rights. All prayers must be conducted in properly designated mosques.

We are not human if we do not accept our mistakes when practicing our religion.

I have not negated the contributions of southern kaduna christians to the problems in kaduna, especially the outright denial of the murder of some 66 muslims.

I also am not blind to the fact that the church has gone to great lengths to demonize Buhari and El Rufai by peddling all sorts of lies and calumny against them on the basis of religion beyond the limits of gladiatorial contest allowed by sportsmanship.

But we should also not be blind to our own prejudices. I remember vividly the sentiments of our people when Yakowa was governor. Now, we need to remember that politics is temporal rulership which does not stain our divine beliefs.

If you sit a christian from southern kaduna down and ask him why he hates you as a muslim, he'll in all likelihood tell you he hates you as a muslim because you hate him first as a christian, and vice versa.

And that is the crux of the problem.

I'm not making excuses for any faith or political system, I'm just stating matters as I see them and you're at liberty to disagree on account of your own perceptions, and I respect that.

I only wish we can separate politics from religion and choose leaders who'll elevate our status in life and not people who'll ride on our sentiments and do nothing for 8 years in office and we hail them as heroes.

But this is also part of the problem.

When CAN, and JNI, start meddling in politics and giving it a religious coloration, it makes matters worse.

Such bodies should be more concerned with their belief systems and not with political systems.

We can all see how GEJ almost bastardized the church by hobnobbing with pastors, giving them millions of dollars, using their aircraft to procure weapons, etc.

We also saw it recently when Imam Gumi and some choice assortment of pastors and clerics were at Ota farm to broker peace between Atiku and OBJ. Such optics dont help any argument beside interloping and meddling.

And Kaduna, with more population of Muslims than that of Christians, should not be able to call to prayer over the loudspeaker because it is multicultural environment in your own estimation? And it is ok for Christians to blare away in places they're only about 20% of the population?

You try!

On to that issue, we are all guity of this hatred and this hatred has gennerated to all areas in this generation.

Go to market places even in public vehicles, unnecesary transfer of aggression is all you ll see.

When i was in primary school, we used to drink water in any house when coming back in the afternoon but now am sure no one can try such .

I entered public vehicle last time , from the back i was trying to streched my hand to pay driver but cant reach him and sadly no one can help among theother passengers.

A man beside me told me that its now trending style because most people believe that the moment they touch my money , their destiny ll suffers it.

Its all act of hatred, we insults ourselves on SMs on a mere issues now the hatred is growing between tribes, politics , places of work , market place and even in churches and mosques.

We can only get over this by individually check ourselves and picture it out where we have gotten it wrong because our unity i believe its non negotiable.
