Do u know iam a die hard buharust but I didn't vote Ajumobi's candidate, we don't know him and Makinde has been with us for long. I ddnt want to vote Makinde b4 because of his party but i to he is a cool guy which we all know so I voted for him. Now u can see he is a cool guy not going to follow the path of PDP. Lots of Buhatists I know voted Makinde and if he fumbles, our PVCs still dey kampe.

that's part of work. Work has started as you can see. Consulting with the outgoing governor and other political party leadership and seeking their advice suggest to me he would succeed because he cant do without them. That's where apc got it all wrong the moment they clinched power, harassing everybody whereas, there were some credible people in the pdp who didn't like the corrupt ideas of Jonathan. Apc would have fared much better in the last 4 years, had they acted like makinde and obj who appointed bola ige from the then opposition as AG in his time.

The fight against corruption in Buhari govt also would have been more meaningful because many secrets would have been leaked out and efficiency assured. No one is an island. To cap it all, his plan to retain the APC dedicated appointees and reabsorbing those who dont deserve to be sacked have all made my day. That's the way government should be run. United we stand and divided, we fall. Apc should simply take a cue. These are the kinds of people we need in our society.

He should settle down to understand the challenges in the education sector before taking a decision. The levy is used for school maintenance and to subsidise PTA appointed teachers since all schools are terribly understaffed. I don't see how 1000 per term is too much to pay for a child in school.

I got involved through Alumni intervention so I know what I'm saying. The outstanding schools of yesteryears have become shadows of themselves due to overpopulation and paucity of funds. A lot needs to be done to raise the standards. If only he can do what Tinubu did with Lagos schools. ..Return some back to the original owners over a period of time and concentrate state resources on the remaining public schools thereby saving costs for the provision of free education for the truly indigent ones.

In the first place, the schools got messed up due to unplanned free education. It was mass education without any consideration for merit. All students moved to the next class irrespective of performance. That marked the beginning of the lowering of standards and lack of commitment of teachers and students. Ajimobi tried hard to improve on the situation even as people resisted.

Any hasty decision may not augur well. He should set up committees to look into all key areas or wait for the handover notes.

Good. Peoples votes are beginning to count now and as you can see, most of our politicians are now humble. The era of giragira, awa la wambe and money politics are fading gradually. What surprised me the most was the door-to-door campaign of our politicians in the last elections. With the way things are now, a politician could bribe voters with all his life savings and still lose out in an election. It's high time we started treating their fuckups with our pvcs

Exactly my point..and that's where the problem lies...which is why the APC hasn't been able to achieve much in the last 4 years. Most of those ministers they consider the best are not even qualified as ordinary ministers of state, given their performances in their various port folios, which you're aware of, yourself. This is a reality and not name-calling. baba trusted most of those appointed into the MDAs before putting them there...what happened in the end? Onnoghen, buratai ( his case would soon come into fore, so chill). Daura, the former DSS boss mata, na im shock me pass cos we work at the DSS. the immediate past IG can't be forgotten in a hurry. The Oyo State Governor-elect, Seyi Makinde, says he will retain persons appointed by the outgoing All Progressives Congress if they are found to be competent.

Makinde, who won the governorship election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party said this during an interview with Lagelu FM 96.7 which was monitored by our correspondent on Tuesday.

The governor-elect, who spoke in Yoruba language, said he would put competence ahead of party consideration.

He said, “We are willing to work with anyone even in the APC. If we see they are good or if an appointee appointed by the APC is good, we will retain him. At the end of the day, people are more concerned with results.”

He also announced a cancellation of the N3,000 education levy which was imposed on students by the Governor Abiola Ajimobi-led government.

“The N3,000 which students are made to pay as education levy will be stopped immediately I take over on May 29. The money is about N1.2bn but let parents now hold unto that money and use it for their personal matters,” he said.

Makinde said he would personally handle economic matters and take responsibility for anything that happens in the state.

The governor-elect said he would set a six-month target for the economic revival and improve the health sector and the security of the state.

He said, “We will set financial targets for ourselves every six months to make our selfs financially stable so that we will not rely on federal allocations anymore. I will personally handle the economy.

“I will focus on agriculture and use it to drive the economy. We will put experts in that field.”

Makinde said governing a state like Oyo would require cooperation and synergy, adding that he would consult Governor Abiola Ajimobi; ex-Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala and his predecessor, Rashidi Ladoja, for advice as he prepares to resume office on May 29.

The governor-elect said his government would look into the dismissal of some government workers with a view to reinstating those who did not deserve to be sacked.

“All government workers who were sacked without fault, we will review the circumstances surrounding their sack and those who didn’t deserve dismissal will be reabsorbed,” Makinde said.
