Besides taking an inordinate amount of time to complete, detailed comparison below shows that the cost of the Lagos Blue Line Project was misrepresented to the Public as $1.2Billion when the actual cost was RMB 1.2Billion (equivalent to $181m).

The contractor provided this figure in their 2010 annual report.

Where did 1 Billion Dollars go?

[meanwhile if you'd like to prove further Google Section CTW400 of the Saudi Arabia North-South (RMB 1Billion) and the Hong-Kong section of the Gwangzhou-Shenzen-Hong-Kong Railway (RMB 1.17Billion) to compare what physical value these countries got for their money!]

Lagos is being RAPED!

Mehn God will bless you. Lagosians and Nigerians in general deserve the leaders they get. Imagine someone was saying it was because of politics the project was stalled when it was just basic stealing that hampered the project.sanwo-olu will not touch that project at all

If I remember correctly, the design was released in 2009 and construction started in 2010 through a World Bank loan. Julius Berger was to build the road while CCECC the rail.
Yaradua approved the first tranch of the loan as president.
Jonathan was the first problem this project encountered. He denied Lagos approval for the 2nd tranch of the loan for Fashola to continue with this project simply due to political party differences. How stupid!
Fashola had to drop Berger and allow CCECC to continue through little funding from Lagos' overcrowded budget. The entire work slowed down due to low funding.
Ambode was the second problem this project encountered. Buhari came in and approved the loan for him to continue the project. Sadly, Ambode had his own stupid ideas.
Instead of completing what he met, he decided to start his own projects that were of less importance to this, simply due to unnecessary political beef with Fashola for not supporting him to get the APC ticket.
Next thing we heard from Ambode was... The project will be completed in 2022. Like what!
That's when I finally concluded that Ambode has to go as we don't need political bickering from the same party in Lagos.
This time, I strongly believe that Sanwo-Olu will do the needful and give us a befitting metro and highway.

Guy don't be such a bloody liar. GEJ never denied you guys for sourcing loans from the World Bank, in fact the then Minister, Okonjo Iweala even decided to assume the responsibility of paying the loans Fashola sought, she even approved the grants of 200, million dollars that Fashola used to construct the Ikorodu expressway.
So nigga to don't lie to defame someone's character. Here's the link to bust your lies:

The governor that borrowed over $700 million dollars with nothing to show for it, despite the huge IGR of the state. Now the state is nearing a debt profile of $2billion and yet, still looks like a glorified village. When people say Lagos is working, i just laugh at their gullibility. We have the Rich man's Lagos which is private sector-driven and the shouting Lagos.

Don't forget LASG got refunds for federal road projects carried out. I wait the day, the LASG financial books will be audited.

Don't mind those liars. The Jonathan they condemned the one whose administration assumed the cost of repayment for the loan they sought from World Bank.
They'll be throwing up lies up and down. Thank God the internet never forgets

Even when his role played to stall the project has been clearly highlighted, and the timeline of the project start detailed, you still decided to try your luck with a foolish statement.

Hasn't Mambilla power plant been delayed by FG for decades?

Hasn't Ajaokuta steel mill been delayed by FG for decades?

Haven't second Niger bridge been delayed for decades?

Stop being foolish, Nigerian federal government are known to delay projects for several reasons, shortfall of finances being the major reason.

Lagos state IGR runs in hundreds of billions yearly, Its also higher than the IGR of 27 Nigerian states combined together, WHY DIDNT THE LAGOS STATE GOVERNMENT BUILD THR RAIL NY HERSELF

Pls grow up.

Blaming others for your failure is a sign of failure itself. you guys should for once take responsibility for once. How much was budgeted for it compared to that of Ethiopia? Where did all that money go to? Channel your energy to those affecting your economy directly instead of pointing fingers at those who do not even no of your existence

My take? The money we are spending to build this is too much.
I don't know the details of the financing. But it seems like one of those Chinese tricks. They use their money to build for you. Then you pay back later. By which time we are talking of slavery for generations unborn.

That their Great Wall in China that they built...they even plastered the slaves inside the blocks, build everything join. They are wicked people O. Na their tradition.

The project can't be 20 years old. The author just exaggerated or is simply unaware.
I read Punch newspaper on the day the design was released by Fashola and it was on their front page. This was in 2009 thereabouts.
To prove to you and the author is wrong, 20yrs ago was 1999 and we were just transiting to democracy again.

The article clearly states 20 years, Now let's work with ur 10 years .

Fashola borrowed over 2 billion dollars as a governor m yet we can't see the money up till this day, WHY didn't Fashola build that bridge, or muat GEJ build it

Aren't there other rail projects GEJ did in Lagos/SW during his regime? Abeg shift one side abeg.

It is FG's business if they choose to delay federal projects forever. This was a state project for which financing had been sought by way of loans that required FG approval.

The role played by the Jonathan PDP regime to frustrate the loan facility was highlighted as a factual reason that plans and contracts already agreed, could not be effected. While Ambode's role in devoting funds to other projects of his own appeal was also mentioned.

You obviously read the report as detailed by the OP, and the opinions with facts expressed by others, but you did not comprehend it.

If everybody enters train, what happens to agberos and their "Owo da?" on the road? No more IGR from them Na!. So rail is not really a priority in Lagos.
It is food people are looking for not solution to problems.

From a layman's point of view
1. Lagos is surrounded by water hence you cannot compare the cost
2. The Ibadan rail line is all solid ground & rocks that were blasted making it easier to constuct
3. Look at the time frame, you would notice the almost 14years Lagos would take compared to the Ibadan rail line. DO you expect the same costs

I hate doing it and my dream is to play basketball professionally but my parents have kinda stood in the way. My play was to take the SATs and play college basketball but that's looking like a far cry.

I keep believing every day that something will change but right now it feels like my life should just end.
I need a place where I can perfect my skills(like an academy of some sort) until I go professional. I'm tired of not doing what I love. Pls can you be of help to me?
