Celebration In Owerri As INEC Declares Emeka Ihedioha Winner / INEC Declares Emeka Ihedioha Winner Of Imo Governorship Election 2019 / Breaking News: Emeka Ihedioha Wins Imo Gubernatorial Elections, PDP (2) (3) (4)

singa4real: What sort of voodoo mathematics is this? The OP asked a valid question which I have been asking too; but apparently, people are becoming more sentimental than being objective. Personally, Rochas and co are a disgrace; but you cannot build legality on illegality. The constitution is clear, and Ihedioha did not get the required spread. Most likely, Uche will get a court injunction to stop Ihedioha from getting sworn in and nobody sits at Douglas house until the case is resolved. INEC had better include Imo in the rerun so APC do not take over administrative duties in the state during the trial/rerun period. No sane judge will overlook this rape on our constitution. Hilary Clinton got the highest number of votes in the last US election but Trump won more electoral college votes and the rest is history. Let us not set bad precedence because you don't know who will misuse it tomorrow. 4 Likes |

DMerciful:If you were not a slowpoke you wouldn't be slow in reasoning.the question your dull and dumb mind should be targeting is whether ihedioha satisfied the constitutional statutes.obviously sentiments have blinded your slow brain |

rex444:That is one of the reasons we are failing as a nation.as far as he is a Nigerian,he has the right to dabble into the issue.if imo people here havr forgotten such germane provisions, perhaps outsiders should remind them.the question a sane fellow should ask is whether ihedioha satisfied constitutional provisions or not |

singa4real:This looks like the kind of defense pdp lawyers would present at the tribunal.even a kid knows how to calculate electoral percentage better than this.the constitution clearly mention in at least each which means we look at each local govt one by one in isolation to see what he got.it didnt say two third or 25% of total votes cast during the imo guber.we are to treat each lga separately. Lets take ideato south for instance.total votes recorded for all parties is 50 000.ihedioha got 4000 which is below 25% which should be 12500.that is how it will be treated. |
Re: . by Nasakwa: 7:49pm On Mar 13, 2019 |

Being ill-educated in itself might not be so demeaning, but being arrogant while still poorly educated is, to say the least, irritating and such persons are a menace to the society... Today I confirm this board houses and gives a platform to a lot of such folks. Making categorical statements in utter ignorance. What! 2 Likes |

senatordave1:Are you sure you even understand the country you are in? The constitution is very clear that it is the party that wins an election not individual and when a Governor defects from a party that is not factionalized, he loses the seat. Rochas decamped from APGA when it was clear there was no factionalization but the court was handling peripheral matters until the case got overtaken by events, they were unable to hear the peripheral case. What about Peter Obi, how long did it take him to regain his mandate during his second term? The court made him Governor after 3 years and within one year INEC conducted election and sent him out even when his tenure has not expired. He went to court just for interpretation of how long the tenure of an elected Governor is, which both of us know is 4 years. But guess how long it took the court to do that? Find out yourself. Before Tribunal will conclude them matter, Ihedioha has been made Governor. |
Re: . by senatordave1(m): 9:26am On Mar 14, 2019 |
ChristianNorth:Its the same thing i am saying.because of sll these lays, the electoral act was amended before 2015 to give tribunals maximum of 6 months to rule, appeal courts 3 months and supreme courts a month.but since its a matter of constiyutional interpretation,it will take lesser time, highest 3 months.ihedioha will be governor by then but he wont settle down much.being governor wont change much especially if nwosu gets federal might. If i was nwosu,i will go to court to get an exparte motion stopping the swearing in of ihedioha or inec from giving him return certificate.rochas on the other hand can sue inec on using the state government which will directly involve the supreme court to get quicker justice. |

Nasakwa:You are not ready for that |
Re: . by senatordave1(m): 9:30am On Mar 14, 2019 |
rex444:If he didnt, then he's an illegal governor and would be shamefully removed. |
Re: . by ChristianNorth: 9:44am On Mar 14, 2019 |
senatordave1:Ex Parte order in an electoral matter? No court has jurisdiction to entertain that matter at first instance. The most important thing is that Ihedioha will be Governor then. They can go to court. |

ChristianNorth:You are not in tune with current realities.the ruling atiku got to inspect inec materials was from an exparte motion.the case nwosu has have never been tested before.its a constitutional breach which happened during elections or after elections.therefore it can be taken to a normal court.it can be argued as a civil case, you know our laws have many loopholes. Its not the conventional rigging, electoral malpractice, violence and other cases associated with electoral petitions.it is purely to ascertain and interpret a part of the constitution which inec abused.it is straightforward. |
Re: . by DeOTR: 11:09am On Mar 14, 2019 |
Before making baseless assumptions, try to get the INEC declared result for Imo first. Last time I checked, the OP said he lifted these results online. |
Re: . by ChristianNorth: 11:11am On Mar 14, 2019 |
senatordave1:Was Atiku challenging the legitimacy of Buhari's win? He only asked for permission to inspect an election material he wasn't challenging Buhari's win. He is going to tribunal to do that. Why did Akpabio withdraw his case even after getting an injunction. Whether constitutional breach or not, a winner has been returned any suit challenging that can only be entertained at the Tribunal at first instance. He can approach that court for interpretation of that law which they will gladly do but that court doesn't have power to ask INEC to vacant the return of Ihedioha. Nwosu can only use that judgement to win at the Tribunal but it can only be admissible if he argues it up to the Supreme court and before that judgment will get to there, Tribunal might have rounded up with the work. AA is calling for interpretation while APGA is calling for total cancellation, so the Tribunal will have their hand full. Tribunal will start entertaining AA petition after addressing APGA's. So this case is not as easy as you think. |
Re: . by ChristianNorth: 11:22am On Mar 14, 2019 |
MaziOmenuko:You guys are just talking like kids. A winner has been returned and no court has the jurisdiction to entertain that case at first instance. AA is calling for the interpretation of Chapter 6 while APGA is challenging the legality of the election itself. So Tribunal cannot entertain AA's prayer unless it has disposed of APGA's claim and before it will get Ihedioha would have been sworn in. Even if Tribunal issue a injunction barring the Chief Judge of Imo from swearing-in Ihedioha, PDP will apply for stay of execution until Appeal Court determines if the Tribunal has the power to give such injunction. By the time Appeal Court will hear the matter, Ihedioha would have been sworn-in. Re-run might happen, but Ihedioha will be Governor when it happens. |
Re: . by senatordave1(m): 11:32am On Mar 14, 2019 |
ChristianNorth:You made a lot of valid points but tried to be partisan when muddling apga and aa together.apga and aa are different parties and will file it separately.but they can both join their suits concerning the 2/3 breach for faster delivery.i can confidently tell you that both parties will challenge the election on two separate suits based on the two third and based on electoral malpractices.even a kid knows that the court will first of all dispense with the 2/3 suit before the other. The tribunal may delay but the higher courts wont.the summary is that the will be a rerun which can go either way. |
Re: . by senatordave1(m): 11:33am On Mar 14, 2019 |
ChristianNorth:The summary is that they will surely be a rerun and ihedioha being a governor wont mean much without federal might. |
Re: . by ChristianNorth: 12:01pm On Mar 14, 2019 |
senatordave1:APC will not be on the ballot, so Ihedioha will sweep through Imo like wild fire. |
Re: . by senatordave1(m): 12:05pm On Mar 14, 2019 |
ChristianNorth:You don't know political calculations.how will he sweep imo when apc came fourth during the polls? Why didnt he sweep the polls? The apc candidate only divided nwosu's votes which if added to nwosu would have made him governor.with him out, nwosu has the whole of orlu zone to himself. |
Re: . by ChristianNorth: 12:08pm On Mar 14, 2019 |
senatordave1:Before nko, we expect them to file their suits separately and don't forget it is in the same Tribunal. Before you can determine if 2/3 is met, you have to determine first if there had been an electoral malpractice. For Tribunal to determine if the 2/3 requirement is met, they have to upload the election first. No matter what happens, Ihedioha would be sworn in and Ugwumba will be appeal the judgement from prison. |
Re: . by ChristianNorth: 12:20pm On Mar 14, 2019 |
senatordave1:Without State power, Ihedioha as Governor will sweep Imo like wild fire. I only pity AA because this time around, he wouldn't get half of that votes again. So Hope or Ararume will support Rochas? Wake up, anyway are you from Imo? |
