Well written, Olagbola. A friend, who is a Maiduguri indigene, mentioned this same thing to me regarding why APC will always win in Borno and Yobe states. He added that some PDP guys have not visited Maiduguri and environs since 2003, yet, they expect PDP to win, and when they expectedly lose, they stupidly shout "rigging".

Getting votes involve emotional investment in people- you can't continue to appear every 4 years like Jimi Agbaje of PDP Lagos and expect to be elected!!!

Talking about Jimi Agbaje, Buhari was appearing every 4 years since 2003 until he clinched it in 2015. Again, agreed that Yobe and Borno are APC states, so also Delta, Akwa Ibom and even Rivers are PDP states too. So APC should not come and kill us because they want to enter the south south by all means.

Two weeks after his defeat at the polls, the Maiduguri Metropolitan Council PDP candidate for the Feb. 23 House of Representatives election, Engr. Abdulsalam Mustapha Kachalla, has decamped to the APC.

Engr. Kachalla announced his decamping to journalists on Tuesday in Maiduguri.

“My decision to join the APC is largely informed by the credible leadership demonstrated by President Muhammadu Buhari and Borno Governor Kashim Shettima; and for my former lecturer, Prof Babagana Umara, who is now the governor-elect.

He said he joined APC in the interest of his people and future generations, adding that the “state cannot afford to be in the opposition any longer given the bitter experience of gross underdevelopment and total neglect it suffered between 1999 and 2015 when the PDP controlled the Federal Government.”
