I tell you, Seun is neither innovative nor creative. He's just a lucky chap who happens to have a forum where we all come to dilly-dally.

When Nairaland started in 2005 there were very few Nigerian sites. Anything you Google brings up Nairaland in the search results. That's how Nairaland grew. Seun was just lucky to start Nairaland so early. Assuming he started Nairaland like 2015 the chances of succeeding would have been slim because of stiffer competition.

We are not talking about UI here. We are talking about helpful features. What features has Nairaland introduced all these years? By now we shouldn't even be clicking monikers just to view profile photos. There should be avatars beside monikers showing profile photos. Then you can click on it to view the large image. A lot of others features are lacking that's why it's hard having intellectual discussions on Nairaland as you said.

To those who are asking why Nairaland doesn't do video, here's a very simple explanation.

Video is heavy both ways...

Adding video to Nairaland would drastically increase the infrastructure cost for Nairaland but would bring very little revenue.
Also a lot of Nigerians access Nairaland via their mobile phones and believe it or not, data isn't cheap (or even fast) to a lot of Nigerians so adding video means Seun loses out on people who cant afford unlimited data which would in turn limit viewship and that leads to less revenue from ads.


It's easy to should innovation/improvement or whatever you want to call it but at the end of the day, Nairaland is a business to Seun numbers rule in the world of Business.

All these your wack excuses sef. Are watching videos not optional? You choose to watch by pressing the play button. As long as you don't press play your data wouldn't be consumed. I have already told you the cost of hosting videos so need wasting your time defending incompetence.
