UEFA have charged Cristiano Ronaldo for his X-rated Goal celebration in Juventus' Champions League win over Atletico Madrid.

Ronaldo scored a stunning Hat-trick as Juventus overcame a first leg deficit to beat Atletico Madrid 3-0 in Turin.

The Portugal international had been frustrated by a defiant Atleti in the previous match but rose to the fore to fire his side through.

Upon celebrating his third goal, Ronaldo gestured towards his crotch in a clear dig at Diego Simeone.

Atletico boss Simeone had done the same gesture in the first leg and was fined £18,000.

UEFA have now given Ronaldo a similar fine.

MySportDab reports he is unlikely to be banned due to the fact the Argentine was only given a fine.

Ronaldo’s case will be heard on March 21.

A statement from UEFA read:

"Following a disciplinary investigation conducted by a UEFA Ethics and Disciplinary Inspector, in accordance with the Article 55 of the UEFA Disciplinary Regulations (DR), disciplinary proceedings have been opened following the UEFA Champions League round of 16 match between Juventus Football Club and Club Atléticode Madrid, played on 12 March in Italy."

As a football lover and armature player, I have what I cherish in a player, if football is all about scoring goals, the likes of Ronaldinho, Roy Kane , Viera, Maldini, Zidane, Rivaldo, carlos, et al , would have no name in the world of soccer. Though teams need the goals to win matches but someone need to defend, keep, create the chances. I have seen messi been deployed as a deep midfielder, winger, attacking midfielder and he has excelled in all, Messi can create chances, assist and score. Ronaldo is a great player with good scoring abilities but Messi is a better player, my opinion though.
