Ishilove:Toyota is usually viewed as being more reliable. It doesn't easily develop little faults. However, it is also seen as being a very boring car. People believe that Hondas are a lot more fun than Toyota. It is also perceived as being a more problematic car than Toyota (front wheel problems, gearbox problems, etc). 1 Like |

I think Okada Air was the first private Nigerian airline to operate on an international route (Lagos - London). They commenced operations on the Lagos - London route in 1993 (they had been operating on domestic routes since 1983). They bought some Boeing 747s that they used on the Lagos-London route. President Ibrahim Babangida was at the launching of the planes in 1992 and Vice President Augustus Aikhomu attended an event to mark their first flight in 1993. Pic 1) Chief Igbinedion welcomes General Babangida to the event. Pic 2) General Babangida, Chief Tom Ikimi and Chief Gabriel Igbinedion decend from the Okada Air plane. Pic 3) Admiral Augustus Aikhomu, Chief Gabriel Igbinedion and Engineer Olawale Ige. Engineer Ige was a Nitel executive in the 1980s, then he became CEO of Nitel and then he was made the minister of telecommunications in 1990. He was made the minister of aviation in 1992. Behind Admiral Aikhomu is one of the 6 door Mercedes W124 limousines that were bought for the 1991 OAU summit in Abuja. Pic 4) Admiral Aikhomu in the cockpit of an Okada Air plane. 5 Likes 5 Shares

Nigerian Aviation History Class 101! A special thank you goes to Mr Konquest and Mr Naptu for the history class. My knowledge base about Nigerian aviation has been increased.
