First...why does smuggling happen

1.Fuel costs over N250 in NIGER republic.

2. Fuel costs N145 here, MEANWHILE...it costs more than N170 to import fuel. If Alhaji sells his fuel in Katsina...he loses money...at Least N20,at most N100.

3.therefore Mr Alhaji smuggler...smuggles fuel across..and earns a cool N100 profit every time he does.(He is a businessman)

If we removed fuel subsidy

1.Smuggling would stop

2.Yes, prices would go up...but it would net Alhaji smuggler a cool profit.

3.Since rule no 1 of business is invest profit to get more profit...Alhaji would invest more in the downstream petrol sector of Nigeria

4.He provides more jobs for the Abokees..who won't go on 'extracurrucular activites', business grows, unemployment falls.

5.And prices eventually fall too.
