DOCUMENTARY ON NIGERIAN AIR FORCE REGIMENT AND SPECIAL FORCES

All is set for the unveiling of an interesting documentary on the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Regiment and Special Forces (SF), scheduled for release later in the week, as part of events ushering in 55th NAF Day Celebrations. In the past 4 years, the NAF has significantly boosted the capacity of its Regiment Speciality and more than tripled the strength of its SF personnel to a 1,000-strong well trained, well kitted and well motivated force capable of conducting specialized operations in concert with sister Services. The NAF SF, which now has a new name - the PANTHERS - as well as distinct accoutrements and insignia, have successfully bridged the gap between Air Power projection and force protection. They are currently deployed for Internal Security operations in about 14 States across the Country. They have been working very closely with sister services adding value in the fight against insurgency and other forms of criminality, while also improving NAF Base Defence and force protection capability. Please whet your appetite with the trailer below. Thank you for your continued interest in the NAF.

I'm not even refering to that, I believe the maintenance guys would have already gotten use to the constant cleaning and checks(that one na dole). The threat of a brown out on landing or takeoff is worrisome even more than the enemies(BHT) arsenal especially during harmattan in North where even sneezing sef can trigger a volcanic dust. This brown out of a thing can even make mess of an experience Pilot with over 10,000flight hours, when it comes that sabiness is out of the equation.

Fyi,loose sand on landing can also tip over the chopper. It happened to a Spanish Puma in Afghanistan;see the super rare skid-equipped Chinook!

So your idea is to wait until there is a threat before we start training for it or doing other stuff?
No wonder the Nigerian military got caught pants down when BHT started.
Just because we are dealing with BH now doesn't mean we shouldn't prepare for other threats.

Dont mis quote me, we all know the budgetary constraint the Navy has yet still try to maintain her platform in line with current threats, firing missiles is not a priority now. Besides they fact say dem no show us publicly say them fire missile no mean say dem no dey do am. Just saying.

The past week as really been bad for the NA and MNJTF. We lost numbers of soldiers to I.E.D and BHT ambush.
And BHT casualties is on the high side.

Give or take our Army chief needs to be changed, it doesn't mean he hasn't done well, we need fresh ideas if CinC can't find a capable/competent replacement (which is impossible) then AM Abubakar Sadique should head both the NAF and NA. We can't be loosing men with reckless abandon and no one is made to bear the consequences. Whether we like it or not PMB seems to be totally out of touch with reality on ground.

My brother I won't lie to you I love him pieces, not for anything but the obvious revolution going on in the NAF under his leadership, its being a while we've seen a service Chief so dedicated, professional and have the welfare of his men at heart and this trickles down to the performance of his men. Did you see any NAF personnel disrupt elections? but same cannot be said of the NA, this tells alot about their professionalism. Can you compare the professionalism of the media outlets of NAF with NA? Abi you wanna compare their various hospitals with that of NA just move to their respective barracks and see things for yourselves. The best welfare any soldier can wish for is training and re-training/capacity building and the NAF is ahead of other sister services.
PS: NAF this year alone has acquired 5 brand new Agustas, apart from the reactivation of many moribund fixed wings, Abeg e the man achievement too plenty for even the blind to see..

They look like 75th ranger regiment or delta,
one thing I would like to canvass for is the inclusion of boating and combat diving in their training if they are to be a fully capable SF outfit.

CAS DECORATES 6 NEW AIR WARRANT OFFICERS AT 2019 FIRST QUARTER INTERACTIVE SESSION WITH REGIMENTAL SERGEANT MAJORS

The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, has decorated 6 newly promoted Air Warrant Officers (AWOs) with their new ranks. The new AWOs are; Emmanuel Abochi, Kabiru Hassan, Muhammed Abubakar, Sherrif Musa, Friday Bassey and Olaoluwa Olatunji. The decoration ceremony took place at Headquarters Nigerian Air Force (HQ NAF) today, 22 March 2019, as part of the CAS’ First Quarter Meeting with AWOs and Regimental Sergeant Majors (RSMs). The quarterly meeting provides a forum for interactions aimed at consolidating on the existing smooth working relations between the NAF leadership and all ranks within the Service for enhanced operational efficiency and effectiveness.

Speaking during the decoration ceremony, the CAS congratulated the newly promoted AWOs while noting that they had been selected for promotion based on their invaluable contributions to the development of the NAF over the years, both within their areas of specialization and in the general operations of the Service. He said that the promotion was also premised on the resolve of the NAF to consistently reward excellence. The CAS urged the new AWOs not to rest on their oars but to rather work even harder and brace up for the challenges ahead, especially in the collective resolve to reposition the NAF and secure Nigeria and Nigerians. He urged them to continue to apply their skills, experience, commitment and time when and wherever demanded. The CAS equally applauded the spouses and family members of the newly decorated AWOs, while imploring them to sustain the support which would enable their spouses to excel in their new ranks and higher responsibilities. Air Marshal Abubakar also seized the opportunity to again thank the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, President Muhammadu Buhari, for approving the new Harmonized Terms and Conditions of Service for the Armed Forces which, he said, has tremendously improved the prospects of personnel in retirement.

The rank of AWO is the pinnacle of the Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO) cadre in the NAF, with only a select and deserving few being able to attain the rank before retirement from the Service. The rank comes with tremendous prestige and responsibility as well as peculiar benefits while in Service as well as upon retirement. Some of these benefits include the provision of a brand new Toyota Hilux Utility Vehicle, along with a driver and an orderly, while in Service. The AWOs retain the Vehicles upon retirement. AWOs, along with RSMs, are the custodians of discipline and Service traditions, as well as administrators of the welfare of NCOs in NAF Formations and Units. They are essentially the elders of the NCO cadre, who are responsible for ensuring that the NAF’s high standards of professionalism are maintained whilst inculcating the NAF’s Ethics and Core Values into their subordinates.
