I once blocked someone on Twitter for ever comparing Legendary Maurice Iwu to Mahmood!!! We shouldn’t let senitiments becloud our reasoning. We might not be happy about the current Administration but to an extent the electoral process is still a little transparent. Even Iwu sabi sey na him be the greatest *Ewu*!! Yakubu is the worst. Maurice Iwu presided when our democracy was young with little electoral law. INEC budget was also very low. He did his bit though performed woefully. vacanci:Maurice was crude with his, but you must consider at least 2 things. 1. Obasanjo: who was unapologetically crude and shameless, thereby providing Maurice with the Liver to do anyhow. 2. There was no better precedence. Unlike yakoob who was coming after a Jega. So in all Maurice did worse, but yakoob had every reason to do much better than he did. onez:With Iwu, the expectations weren't high. But with Yakubu, Nigeria was supposed to be on an upward trajectory and the expectations were higher. The person in Aso Rock now is supposed to be Gods' gift to Nigerians....that's how his minions tell it, so things generally were supposed to be better than was the case under past leaders they say were ineffectual and kwarrupt! onez:Guy stop that. Let's be reasonable. Both umpires got the money they needed, and both had enabling laws to guide them. Biko, which one be "little electoral law"? Do recall that even the international community were unanimous in their conclusion that the elections were among the worst ever known? But for what its worth, most have commended this years' election, save for a few hitches Im not holding brief for Yakubu but you just cannot compare both umpires. Apart from his annoying "inconclusive" elections leading to reruns ( which by the way is favoring the opposition in most cases) you really cant accuse Yakubu of systematic rigging like the case of IWU. 6 Likes |
