The powertrain is pretty meh. The M112 and M113 are hands-down the most reliable engines Mercedes have ever made. The M271, though? Not bad, but not spectacular either.

For what it's worth, I don't consider the C240 and C320 to be very reliable cars from a neutral standpoint, but they're definitely the most reliable W203 models. 2005 in particular because Mercedes had solved issues with rusting and some electrical gremlins by then. Also was a face-lift year.

The C240 and C320 have their issues but you'd literally have to go out of your way to kill that engine and trasmission. Those things will last to 300k miles with regular maintenance. Too many things go bad in the C230K's M271.

Service when due and with right oils,filter too.
The transmission in the c230k is also bulletproof.reason why it's not expensive since no one buys them
Careful with revving the m271 much(redline) also a major killer and avoid flood!

Thanks for the enlightenment but this engine in my car seems too solid, with time sha, I'll let the thread know about my experience. It's been two months of bliss anyways and I'm planning on changing my oil and filter, den do some tune up if need be.

I got a good buyer for it and got this recent lady from a childhood friend who came home last December with the car loaded with goods.
Dude told me to drop any amount for it when he was going back after subtly stating he paid 420k for clearing.
I eventually dropped 650k with the intention to resell but after knocking it around (unregistered) for a couple of weeks now, I have made up my mind to keep it. I had always seen the E-Class as too bogus from afar but my intimate contact with one is highly refreshing

This car will last me years with my maintenance culture.
