If you don’t know, now you know. The Igbo tribe is one of the most industrious tribes in the country. They have consistently produced billionaires and multimillionaires and they owe this to their tenacity in the businessman world. Below are the top 5 richest Igbo men from starting from number 5 to number 1. Enjoy

Tony Elumelu

He was the Chief Executive Officer of UBA before going on to found his own company, Heir Holdings. He is currently the chairman of Transcorp and the founder of the Tony Elumelu Foundation, a foundation that has empowered thousands of entrepreneurs across Africa.

During his time at UBA, he was able to transform the bank from a Nigerian bank to a pan-African institution with presence in 19 African countries. Overall, Tony Elumelu has investments in financial services, energy, real estate, hospitality, agribusiness and the healthcare sectors. His investment company, Heir Holdings supervises these investments. Tony Elumelu is one of the richest men in Nigeria with an estimated worth of $1.4 billion.

ABC Orjiako

Orjiako was the CEO of Shebah E&P Company, an oil exploration firm with a 40% stake in the offshore block OML 108. This block produces over 8000 barrels every day. In 2010, Orjiako’s Sheba metamorphosed in to SEPLAT Petroleum Development Company Ltd which became the first Nigerian company to take over the operating of a Joint Venture asset from Shell, Total and Eni.

He is also the chairman of Zebbra Energy Limited which owns the deepwater concession OPL 248 offshore Nigeria. He is said to be worth an estimated $1.2 billion dollars. His other business interests include shipping, banking, insurance and even pharmaceuticals. He is the chairman of Neimeth Pharmaceuticals International PLC.

Benedict Peters

Benedict Peters is one of the richest men in the country. He is the founder of Aiteo Group. This group has business interests in energy and oil. Peters is said to be worth an estimated $2.7 billion. According to Ventures Africa, he is the seventh richest man in Nigeria.

Peters founded the Aiteo Group in 2008. The group is said to own one of the largest petroleum tank farms in the country. Also, Aiteo has a controlling stake in Oil Mining Lease (OML) 29 and the Nembe Creek Trunk Line (NCTL) in the Eastern Niger Delta.

Cletus M. Ibeto

Cletus Ibeto is one of the richest Igbo men in the country. He was born on the 6th of November 1952 in Nnewi in Anambra.  Ibeto is the head of the Ibeto Group, a conglomerate with business interests in petrochemical industries, cement, real estate, automotive parts, hospitality as well as banking and finance.

Currently, the Ibeto Group owns the largest liquid storage facilities for petroleum products in Nigeria. These facilities have a capacity of over 60,000 metric tonnes. Cletus Ibeto is currently worth an estimated $3.7 billion.

Arthur Eze

Arthur Eze is one of the wealthiest men in Nigeria. He is the founder of Atlas Oranto Petroleum, an oil and gas firm with assets in Nigeria, Liberia, Guinea and the Gambia. Oranto Petroleum was founded in 1991. Eze is also quite popular for his flamboyance. He is rumoured to have up to five different models of Rolls Royce. He also owns a private jet that is worth over $25 million.

Currently, Arthur Eze has a net worth of over $5.8 billion. Apart from his foray into business, Arthur Eze is also deeply involved in politics. Tony Elumelu is not Igbo, Delta is not Igbo too. Go to your tiny underdeveloped Region which consist of your 5 Potopoto States.
I'm Urhobo from Warri, Delta state. I wonder why you always think whoever goes against you opinions must be from the so-called potopoto region. Igbos are also in the South South and even a small part of North Central. It may surprise you but it's a fact. And what makes you think the South East is that bad? Well, enjoy your folly. I leave you to it.

Okay then. I thought he was from Ika. That place, the last time I checked, is around Issele-Uku in Aniocha North LGA. Are Issele-Uku and Aniocha people generally not Igbo? Or will you also say Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala from Ogwashi-Uku is also not Igbo?

Tony Elumelu is Igbo!

The correct spelling is Onicha-Uku by the way.

Elumelu and Ben Peters are not Igbo men per se. Stick to the South East. And besides, Elumelu isn't as rich as many of you think. He is full of packaging and fluff. Leeching and feeding fat on UBA till date. UBA even pays for his condoms and slay queen sessions. That's bullshit.

Tony Elumelu isn't Igbo per se? Based on what? You think anyone in the SE is Igbo? The Igalas of Anambra, the Idoma's of Enugu state and the Ibibios of Abia are not Igbos.

I really wonder at the IQ of some of the commentators on this forum! Some people just comment trash b'cos of their bigotry and rabid hatred of Igbos!

So one now determines his ethnicity based on the political delineations of Gowon, etc? So because Delta was decreed to be placed in your so called south-south, it now means all groups found within its boundaries are none Igbo, and those who claimed to be Igbo will lose their Igbo heritage and identity because they are in your south-south?

Are the Yoruba only found in the south-west? Are the Ijaw only found in Bayelsa? Are the Fulani only found in Sokoto?

On what basis do you now assert that the Igbo should only be found in the politically delineated south-east? What is this correlation you're trying to make between ethnic identity and the carving up of Nigeria by the Fulani military backed by a few southerners brimming with hate for Igbos?

One of the most difficult things to do is to identify who's richer than who in igbo land. Most of them don't like the publicity or razzmatazz. They just want to make money peacefully. I can give you five names now that can beat those you mentioned there:

1. Ernest Obiajesi: CEO of Nestoil plc and Obijackson Group.
2. Uche Ogah: President of Masters Energy Group
3. Ifeanyi Ubah: CEO of Capital oil
4. Cosmas Maduka: President of Coscharis Group
5. Bishop Okonkwo: CEO of Ekulo Holdings
6. Tony Ezenna: CEO of Orange drugs
7. Emeka Offor: CEO of Chrome Group
8. Orji Uzor Kalu: CEO of Slok Group
9. Innocent Chukwuma: CEO of Innoson Group

These men are small compare to those above.

I'm glad I mentioned partly financed, but I know what I'm saying. Things are not always the way they appear, especially for people you might not be able to beat your chest on the Genesis of their wealth.

However, Deomelo, I neither have hundreds of thousands of dollars, nor millions, not to talk of billions, and I'm sure you fall within the same category. So I won't spend my time cursing people arguing on wealth that doesn't belong to me. I advice you and others doing same stop it, either igbo or yoruba to stop the crap.

I can also tell you that Airpeace is owned by one man. Recently, Airpeace paid for 10 boeing 737 Max planes. Each one of them costs an average of $120m. That's $1.2b. And my sources say he bought the planes without bank loans. Even if it is partly funded by banks, the assets still belong to the owner of Airpeace. This should tell you that the guy is a dollar billionaire, but has chosen not to be on Forbes, at least for now.

Stop compounding your lies with more lies. You categorically asserted that he bought planes without bank loans according to your lying source and saying even if it is partly finance means nothing, if is just if, not a compound statement, but your main contention and point here remains the lie that he bought the planes without bank loans.

Someone wrote in the blogs that Jonathan gave me $1 billion dollars to float Air Peace. I don’t know if the aircraft in all the airlines in Nigeria put together are up to $700m talk less of $1 billion. Yet Air Peace with just 7 airplanes is then claimed to cost this much.

http://www.citypeopleonline.com/named-7-aircrafts-wife-kids-air-peace-airlines-chairman-allen-onyema/

Funny enough, the man actually addressed liars like you, this came from him, not me. You read fake news blogs with fabricated rubbish and fan it across the internet as facts. The man said all the planes in Nigeria put together are not even up to $1 billion total cost so how did you and the lying bloggers arrived at $1 billion?

You people are just too annoying and irritating with your lies.

Delta consists of many tribe's among whom are igbos. Go home and ask about the history of many of those towns from Asaba down. Let me give you one son.
Onicha (now called onitsha due to the British) were mostly farmers and fishermen due to the presence of that River Niger. On the days of farming or even fishing, they could be gone for days. And almost all the Onicha indigenes had their farms across the river, sometimes they will go on their canoe and come back in the evening, sometimes the next day. Farm is called ugbo in the Anambra native dialect. With time, some started settling in their farms where they can rest and even trade off the proceeds of their harvest or fishing. That their farm is called Onicha ugbo till date.
If we can trace 100 years back, you will see that some siblings of same parents are now from two different states today.
Am from Imo state, but my younger brother recently met an ikwerre woman whose mother was from my compound (same surname). Ofcourse the woman's mother is long dead in ikwerre where she was married and the woman in question is now an old woman and with offsprings who had no idea of their IMO lineage.
Are you aware that a tribe in abia called Aro migrated to many parts of Nigeria and some settled somewhere in Lagos called Oyigbo though called Oyingbo today. Today, generations later, their great great grand kids are now scattered all over Lagos as Yorubas.
It will shock you if you dig a bit into your lineage.
