Military camouflage is meant for the military, if you wear it and got punished for it that's your cup of tea.

The law forbidden civilian from wearing military clothes. That same law prohibits the military from punishing offenders and laid down procedures for doing it. Both are wrong but in Nigeria, the military can confidently upload such an evil act and get away with it

Nothing to do with black man's race. Every society has a unique rules which is only applicable to the society.
In Europe people careless about the Army because the police is highly efficient. You can't intimidate anyone with your Military uniform. But in nigeria, the fear of intimidating the civilians with Camouflage is higher.
it has everything to do with the black man ,show me a civilized first or second world country run by the blacks, show me a black nation where justice is served accordingly irregardless of position and power , show me an average black man that's not power drunk ,even our parents treat us bad most of the time all in the name of training and expect to be given the utmost respect at every alteration. It's deeply engrained into our culture ,religion and mentality

Camouflage is worn by everyone in countries where soldiers are trained to protect their country against foreign invaders.

Nigerian armed forces are trained to suppress insurrection from any Nigerian groups against Nigeria for the interest of far north Nigeria and foreigners' ECONOMIC INTERESTS.

Soldier doesn't enforce the law, Arrest and hand over the law breaker to the police for prosecution.

You guys don't understand my point.
How many soldier have you seen arresting a civilian wearing a camou without beating him?

The best thing is to wear your normal clothes, if you want to wear camo then go and join the military, simple.

Presicely, They may have earned the right to the Uniform but soldiering isn't About Going About brutalising and Assaulting civilians, it is also About Self Control/Respect, Humility, Good behaviours and Respect for Other human beigns. All they had to do was tell him to remove the camo.

Soldiers can be court marshalled, Arrested, Prosecuted and Jailed too, they are not Above the law. Maybe in Nigeria they are Above the law.
We all know that if not because of the issues of impersonation no body would have given a damn about who wears camouflage or not, but they say don't wear it at all so far u know say u no belong to any force, why we no go jejely respect our civilianess and not wear their uniform.... Clothes yapa for market wey person fit buy use do his guy and not camouflage.

I'm at many comments here. Wearing a military attire is illegal in most places including the USA. I don't support the beating, he should have been arrested instead

Guys need to DEFINE what a MILITARY ATTIRE IS.....before quoting USA and other countries.

For example, wearing a Nike Camo-Sneakers CANNOT and DOES NOT make you look like or become a military personnel, in the USA or in any sane country.
Most people dont even know what is "significant" in claiming to be a military personnel?
it is the Special belt, the Pips, the Cap with the Insignia, the military Boots, the design of the Camo-uniform, e.t.c that forms the "military Attire"

We need to educate the military rank-and-file and the populace in general, on how to identify or "mis-identify" a person who claims to be military!
The current situation where soldiers just brutalize a civilian because he wears a Camo-TShirt or Camo-Sneakers or even a Camo-shorts is borne out of COWARDICE and l say this with all sense of responsibility. Why brutalize someone that is not a danger to you?

If you say you are trying to prevent Boko Haram members wearing military attire so they can impersonate soldiers, then we have to re-train our soldiers on the public, on how to identify a soldier.
If a Boko Haram member wears say a Camo-sneakers and claim to be a "Captain in the military", will any "informed person" or Soldier take him seriously or believe him?
What l am saying is that it takes more than wearing a Camo-TShirt or a Camo-Knickers or Camo-Sneakers, to claim to be a military personnel.
All Civilians know this, Soldiers know this but the need to BRUTALIZE unarmed civilians, by some COWARDS in the military (who hide under military uniforms) is what feeds all these hullaballoo that we are seeing.
If you want to impersonate a Soldier, you need to wear A MILITARY ATTIRE.
An ATTIRE (as stated in the statutes of most countries we quote), is different from an ARTICLE.
A military ATTIRE consists of the Camo-Uniforms, the special belt, the Pips, the Cap with the Insignia, the military Boots, e.t.c. You have to wear all or more than one of these items TOGETHER, for it to make an ATTIRE.

There are obvious situations where one can deduce immediately, that the wearer of a Camo is not trying to impersonate a Soldier
(I have seen stupid Soldier trying to challenge a 10yr old cousin of mine for wearing Camo-shirt knickers ONLY that l bought for him! I asked him if it made sense to him, that the 10yr old Boy was trying to IMPERSONATE to be a military personnel or whether he has 10yr old boys of his age, in his regiment? He then asked if he may "know me" and l told him to show me his "Pass" before l can answer any question from him, being that we were in a public place at that time? Soldier got the drift, gave me full compliments and l discharged him with a warning to "use his sense and not harass civilians unnecessarily"wink.

The Solution to the problem is EDUCATION.
Civilians must be told never to wear military ATTIRE......... as in "Attire".

Soldiers must be educated (l said "Soldiers", not "Officers" because Officers know this already) on what constitutes a "military ATTIRE" as opposed to just wearing a camo-ARTICLE......which is not an attire and does not constitute wearing a military attire with the intent of IMPERSONATION.
If you wear a Camo in the US or other Western countries and you dont "add" other paraphernalia of the military that makes it "A Military ATTIRE", then you have not broken any law. That is the American Soldiers and authorities using their brain because they know that you cant impersonate the military by just wearing a Camo-Sneakers or t-Shirt.

Finally, Soldiers, (especially the cowards among them who take pride in brutalizing unarmed civilians) must be disciplined by the MP, anytime a case of civilians brutality is established against them. they must be educated to know that the military itself, cannot survive without the "love and Support" of the civilian population!
One of the reasons we are still failing in the fight against Boko haram is because the civilian population does not TRUST and SUPPORT the Soldiers in the field. How can someone you brutalize for the flimsiest excuse, trust and support you?
The "Power and Authority" of a Soldier does not lie the the harassment and brutalization of civilians (that is not what Soldiers are trained to do!) but in the protection and care of such civilians, even when they err, you can correct them with respect because "Respect begets Respect"

God bless the Nigerian military!
