Again, Nigeria was more united in 1979 than it is now. This mutual suspicion across the religious divide wasnt very strong in those days.

What CAN said was valid.
If you can show me any past administration in Nigeria (civilian or military) where the President or Head of State, Senate President, Speaker and CJN (who are the heads of the 3 arms of government) were all Christians, I will give you 100k now.

I talked about the tone of their submission cos it's obvious there. They also cited parts of the constitution that talked about equitable distribution of political posts in Nigeria to reflect the diversity of the country.

I don't have any business with Ekiti State. I don't know anything about the state especially as it relates to religious politics.
In the South Eastern states, there aren't Muslims in top political positions cos their population is very minimal. In the core Northern states on the other hand, there equally aren't Christians in any of the major political positions (except for Kaduna State that has a large number of Christians).
I can't talk about Ekiti cos I don't know about the relative population of both religious groups. Also, Yorubas here on Nairaland often tell us that there isn't religious bigotry in the SW therefore there isn't anything like Yoruba Muslim or Yoruba Christian. They always boast about how in one family, half of the members can be Muslims and half, Christians. If that is the case, then it may not matter if all political leaders in Yoruba land are Muslims or they are Christians. However, that model cannot work in Nigeria as a whole cos the core North and the South East/South South are very different in terms of religious approach from the South West.
