Senator representing Lagos East Senatorial district, Gbenga Ashafa has thrown his weight behind call for the Deputy Senate President position of the incoming ninth National Assembly to be zoned to the South-East region.

This was as Tope Atiba, the Senior Legislative Media Aide to the Lagos Senator, met with Kenneth Udeh, Media Aide to Abia North Senator-elect, Orji Kalu, on Thursday at the National Assembly Complex, Abuja.

He praised the efforts of Dr. Kalu in delivering for the party in the last election despite not holding any political position in last 12 years.

Atiba revealed that his principal, Ashafa is willing to support the South-East zone to clinch the Senate number two position.

Udeh, who shared the news on Facebook, wrote;

“At the National Assembly today it was a great pleasure meeting with Mr. Tope Atiba the Senior Legislative Media Aide to Senator Gbenga Ashafa Senator Representing Lagos East Senatorial District.

“I'm glad for the insights he shared with me about the Senate. He also praised the giant efforts of Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu in delivering for the party in the last election despite not holding any political position in last 12 years.

“More soothing is his belief on behalf of his principal that the Southeast deserves at least the Deputy Senate Presidency which he is willing to support.”
