You may not like what I’m goin to say now. Even now when Nigeria is completely rotten with almost everyone having committed some unwholesome activity during his work , if you investigate 1000 to 10000 officers you will find one or two who are not guilty. While the criminals will be from all parts of the country, north, south,west and east , I will not be surprised if the 2 or 3 innocent once are from the north. That is the truth about Nigeria.

Buhari placed hundreds in prison. They were from all parts of the country, they included state governors , Deputy governors, head of parastatals and many departments and of course the president and his VP and some legislators. 2 persons out of hundreds from the north is nothing. A Northerner and Hausa Fulani Minister ( Umaru Dikko) was ordered to be brought back to Nigeria by Buhari. Umaru Dikko was captured and placed in a crate by Nigerian security agents in London and was already loaded onto a plane as diplomatic cargo and was leaving Stansted airport when the British security got some information and arrested the plane. There was no tribal or northern bias in that crazy operation at all.

Rather, I should ask you what does a coup mean? So, if a coup is planned and its successful, would the ousted leader be allowed to go for free? He's either killed or jailed because its risky to let him go just like that. Shagari couldn't have been let go as a freeman without being arrested and kept u til the coup became a success...what if he foisted their plans as the one in control of the military at that time just like what happened during a coup against babangida ? After shagari was arrested in a bloodless coup and Buhari was appointed to take over, shagari was allowed to walk freely on the streets whilst those who served under him from other regions were arrested and jailed. Before you say Buhari also dealt with dikko, his kinsman, it was because he had issues with the latter which predated the 1983 coup and Buhari hardly forgives.
