thank u bro for d eye opening packaging stuff. currently i hv issue with how to go about mine ,my nursery is due for transplanting, the nursery site(my home) to my farm is about 3 hours drive. i first did nursery in the farm to avoid stressing them during transit but it was set ablaze by unknown being, that is why i did another at home to secure it. i wl attached d pix of d burnt nursery n d new nursery later.

pls educate me more about d processes involved as to reduce over stressing d plants during transit.
secondly, permit me to ask d following question:
>with ur packaging, how many hours/days can d seedlings spend b4 planting?
>since u are transporting to PHC, which state/town is ur nursery located?
>is it advisable to uproot them by evening, say 6pm, package them and move them to farm d following morning?this is to to enable us start planting early b4 sun shines, cos we are planting close to 2 acres. it is more of tomato, pepper should be around 1,000.
don't transplant anything in the morning,or less you are very sure that day sun will not come out, transplant is best in the evening, get a strong team that will complete the job from 4-7 pm,if it remain next evening they continue,

The seedlings can last at least 24hours
I'm transporting the seedlings from Ibadan to PH
What I did is that I wet the seedlings bed very well at night,by day break it was very easy to remove the seedlings with soil without stress.if the seedlings was removed with wet soil and put in bag that will allow the soil remain moist, the seedlings can last like 24hours.

HELP O !!!

I transplanted few of my pepper yesterday evening around 6pm, but to my suprise all dir leaves are lying on the floor (and gradualy geting dry).
Although the transplanting was not done in the rain, dir was heavy down pour on sunday which made the ground still kinda soacked with water. Also the intensity of sun today was mild.

Please how do I save my pepper from dying and also prevent such occurence in the future.

thanks

After transplanting its advisable you wet the plant and if there's no rain the following day wet by evening again.

I'm sorry I may not be able to answer your question because this trend is meant for pepper farming. There's another beta trend on cucumber farming by okoroemeka

Please, water them with compost tea but make sure you don’t allow it to touch the leaves of your pepper.

Compost tea is just water derived from soaking compost in water or chicken or pig manure in water.

What they suffered is called Transplanting shocks

No not necessarily. You can avoid transplanting shocks by making sure that 5-7 days before transplanting, you allow the sprouts to harden by exposing them to sunlight and water them as needed then transplanting them in the evening whilst making sure that air doesn’t gain access to the roots after transplanting then using compost tea to further drench the soil near the roots

I am guessing your question is born out of what you are presently experiencing. Yes it does. And another thing I also found out with the variety is it isn't a good climber, has little tendrils for climbing so you have to train it well using trellis

that greengo is a beast when it comes to disease resistance and fruit production!!!

I just planted the greengo cucumber. I was adviced to plant it due to ready marketability in ibadan.

Please, based on your experience on greengo, how many cukes does it produce per plant before it dies.

Thanks for your response to my question sir. I appreciate.
I'm not experiencing that though. I don't have pollination issues with my cukes. I haven't grown nagano f1 before, so I'm just looking for suitable early hybrid (in case of my next production) to replace the Marketer cucumber I'm currently use cos it produces d male flowers for my other varieties. I'm growing Murano 2 f1, Kenzo 2 f1 and Darina f1. I put marketer for better pollination for more production.

Thanks for the tip about the poor climbing skills of nagano f1, I guess I'll have to use Cu999 since it's a monoecious hybrid and it's early (flowering same time as other hybrids).

I don't agree with this goggle farmers how can they plant 2.500 pepper on one plot,12.000 stands on 1 acre(6 plots),it will be a struggle to fit 2500 stands in 4 plots, and the 60-45 cm spacing just made me laugh, the recommended spacing for hot pepper on FAO site is 5feet×4feet,we did 4×4 feet square but before we start harvesting the whole place was covered,if land is small the closest spacing is one elephant shovel length from one plant to another square,60cm/50cm is for cucumbers, pepper/garden eggs are measured in feets.

Good evening my good people, Greetings to all Christians all over the world. I WISH YOU HAPPY EASTER AND I PRAY THAT THE RESURRECTION OF JESUS WILL NOT BE IN VAIN OVER OUR LIFE.
I have been so busy nowadays, the cucumber project really took much of our time that we nearly forget we still have some other project neglected, in short this cucumber of a plant require too much time and care. For the past two weeks we are so busy staking our yam (just 6plots).
And mind you we still have the seed yam project, pepper and Golden Mellon. The major problem is that we don't have enough hands,to get farm worker this days is not easy, most of our youth are not ready to get their hands dirty but dey won ride vensa. By God grace later today or tomorrow I will create another trend for seed yam production (stay tune).
I GREET THOSE THAT KEEP CALLING AND SENDING SMS..MISS YOU ALL.
