You are ignorant (I mean no offence)! The crisis in the Western Region had taken thousands of lives and was fast taking up a civil war dimension, as the Akintola camp and Awolowo camp were ready to pull everywhere down. The central government headed by Tafawa Balewa (who was a stooge to Sardauna) was in support of S.L. Akintola who many felt was not even worthy to lace Awolowo's shoe. The crisis was very messy and bloody. It created discontent all over. It was obvious there was no end in sight; particularly, the central government was not going to be able to quell the bloody crisis because it was found to have a hand in it! The problem is that we do not read! This whole thing happened not very long ago, barely seventy (70) years ago. Many of the central actors (including Igbos and Yorubas) have come out to state that the coupists planned to install Awolowo as the Head of government - even Ojukwu, who was very averse to the coup (and actually fought and quelled it in Kano), revealed that the coupist targeted Awolowo to head the government. Never! You blockheads never learn anything of worth! The leader of the gang, Kaduna Chukwuma Nzeogwu, was more Hausa than Igbo. He was born and bred in Kaduna. And the guys that knew him testified that he had a nationalistic fervor... The excuse that the 1966 coup led to the pogrom against Igbo civilian population is very silly at best. The core north had killed Igbos on a large scale as far back as 1953, that was almost a decade before self-rule, and thirteen (13) freaking years before the coup! The plan truth is that at that time Igbos were dominant in both the military and in the civilian sector. The North felt that natural jealousy and insecurity. 'The Igbos were taking over everywhere'. And also, at that point, there was a preponderance of Igbos in the officers corps of the army such that there was no way the army was going to be involved in any major military operation that there wouldn't be a dominance of Igbos. How can a country thrive with this much misinformation! 7 Likes 2 Shares |

Asour:ikr!! thats my opinion and if i one day want to lead a revolution thats what i would do.... And yes not every igbo is in support of the biafran cause...... If you look in the future, very soon we are gonna be dumped sef, because oil would be useless, if we are eventually gonna be left on our own without oil, we would have to build from the scratch and unless we produce a visionary leader like in Singapore and Malaysia, we might then be ok.... But if not.... I cant tell ooo 1 Like |

Cadec007: That is why they have been fighting shamelessly against meritocracy. They devised things like quota system, federal character and 'educationally disadvantaged...' to play in their favour because they sure know that if we were to operate meritocracy, the pre-1966 situation would play out again! But even with all these unfair advantages they created for themselves, Nigeria is still being largely run by the South (sans political offices); the south operates 80% of Nigeria's economy. I don't know why a people have decided to bug everyone down because they are not ready to run at the same pace! In a year, some core northern states cannot boast of 50 candidates sitting for entry exams! It is about time we pulled a gun on them and tell them "niggar, you better start flying to catch up with everybody". We can't throw them away, they are our kiths and kins! 2 Likes 1 Share |

AbuAeesha: I have read excerpts from the book and I have read so many interviews by Ademoyega on the coup! I have also read 'Reluctant Rebels'. You just asked me if I have read a book by an ADEMOYEGA, who was a ringleader in 'an Igbo coup'... Are you sure you haven't contradicted yourself? History has never been in tandem with our present realities and beliefs, that is why the attempt to rejuvenate it is at best feeble - age-long conceptions would be blown open and exposed as the lie they actually are, and the foolishness of the majority would be pushed to the fore! I do not need to convince you that there is something untrue about Nigeria and its foundation. It's easy to see that we have been fooled for long. 2 Likes |

ritababe: The international community didn’t react because they didn’t see it. Those men had their bodies hidden inside military barracks. But Try to kill 1000 igbo civilians in today’s world not to talk of 10,000 or even 60,000. Try and see if you can hide their bodies. The British supported you guys back then in the cover ups. There was no internet or cellphone or even global satellite. It was perfect condition for Nigeria to get away with such scale of genocide. 1 Like |

FemiMaduka: Save us your tale by moonlight. The coup was planned prior to 1966 by Ibos to take over government. Ojukwu had ambition as early as 1963...long before Western crisis..... to overthrow government. They have been plotting this thing soon as Midwest was divested out of Western region. They wanted a total take over of oil producing regions and that was Midwestern region and Ogoja and Cross River area. They actualized this Ibo plot in 1966, January 15th. The presence of people of other regions in it does not absolve Ibos of guilt and cruelty. Banjo was in Biafra....should we then say Biafra was not an Ibo war? The coupists had no credibility after murdering govt officials. Whatever they say cannot be given any weight of truthfullness, including their false assertion that it was a plan to install Awo. Just like Ojukwu said Biafra advance into Ore was to save Yoruba. Save Yoruba from what? Since when has Yoruba appointed Iboman as a savior? 3 Likes |

Make una go school una no go gree na to dey vomit rubbish from kaikai joint. For those of you writing rubbish about Igbo's coup should go Bleep yourselves. The coup plotters were court Marshall in regards to military dictates in 1966. Does that justified the killing of innocent civilians in Kaduna, kanu, Lagos and every part of the so call Nigeria? Men, Women, Children were killed just b/cos of the so call igbo coup. When Obasanjo, Buhari, IBB, Abacha ETC plotted their own coup how many Northerner's or Yoruba's did the Igbo's killed. As if that was not enough, a war was declared to extinguish the Biafra's and you evil people are here talking about bridge. We said we do not want to be part your Nigeria so go Bleep yourselves. This time we will not let what happen between 1967-1970 to happen again. we are not going to wait for Nigeria people to bring war to us. You better get ready. 2 Likes |

AbuAeesha:so what happened to those and tribes who committed the coup that ousted shagari,Gowon and the one that locked up MKO and brought in the looting Abacha and the one committed by Dimka that led to the death of murtala Muhammed.why don't Nigerians hammer on those coup the way they do on the 1966 coup.coups are committed by few individuals in the army for their own selfish reasons not for the common man on the streets that were killed all over Nigeria in 1966.These events snowballed into the quest for Biafra which led to the civil war.You can see that Nigeria and Nigerians are bias to igbos. 1 Like |
