My engine is asking for 1qtz of engine oil. Is it advisable I buy one and just top up like dt on my own or do a complete oil change, last time I changed oil was early February with 5ltrs of Mobil 1 0w40 instead of 5.7ltrs CC Diportivo, HeavenlyBang, GAZZUZZ, Radautoworks, Nurey, Nwanneni |

Chelseafan1:You're already two months in. If you've driven any significant distance in that period, just do a complete oil change. |
| Re: Mercedes Benz Thread by Nobody: 9:39am On Apr 15, 2019 |
Chelseafan1:you can top it up if you want.but if the oil is old already,I'll say just do a complete change. The m271 is unforgiving when it comes to oil related issues bro |

| Re: Mercedes Benz Thread by Chelseafan1: 9:52am On Apr 15, 2019 |
HeavenlyBang:OK, car came with 107k miles, its on 111k miles as at last night. What do you advise bro? |
| Re: Mercedes Benz Thread by Chelseafan1: 9:52am On Apr 15, 2019 |
HeavenlyBang:Inside Lagos alone yesterday, I did 100miles ![]() |
| Re: Mercedes Benz Thread by HeavenlyBang(m): 9:57am On Apr 15, 2019 |
Chelseafan1:Ah, you've driven 4k miles already na. E don reach to change anyhow, especially since you're using a W40 oil. That isn't a naturally aspirated engine, bro, you have to be more careful with your servicing. |
| Re: Mercedes Benz Thread by Chelseafan1: 10:06am On Apr 15, 2019 |
HeavenlyBang:I know bro, I'll try and do a change today hopefully. I've had it in mind sha. Thanks a lot. |

Chelseafan1:Hah, nice one. Man gets so much stick from unsavory individuals here when most who have met him in person think otherwise. Did you tell him your NL moniker? |
| Re: Mercedes Benz Thread by DreCharles(m): 7:58pm On Apr 15, 2019 |
auhanson:Evening please. The w203 I inspected turned out to be a converted one. It looks very neatly done that it could pass off as a LHD. Please are there any cons? The wipers and gear placement are as of LHDs. Please it's urgent |

I've not made any comments on this thread for long cos the hypocrisy here is out of this world. People who don't know jack about Benz are forming experts in Benz matters. Many of "The experts" we have here will ask you to use Toyota coolant for your Benz but will turn around and tell you to stick to OEM engine oil ![]() Do they even know the right oil...today is 0w30, 2moro is 10w40. I My advice, consult your qualified mech b4 u ruin your car. |

thebigkendo:Are you one of our "experts" on this thread? |
| Re: Mercedes Benz Thread by shortgun(m): 9:03am On Apr 16, 2019 |
HeavenlyBang:Throwing shades? That will be childish. I've been using Mobil XHP 20w50 on my C320 for 5 years now and I still travel on average of 170km/h. Dem no born you well to overtake me with ur fake Mobil 1 .Am even praying for the engine to kaput but engine no gree die. Why will someone ask people to buy their groundnut oil Mobil 1? In the name of OEM oil. |
| Re: Mercedes Benz Thread by HeavenlyBang(m): 9:12am On Apr 16, 2019 |
shortgun:And I'm sure your owners manual doesn't support it. Good luck with your car, do whatever works for you but don't try to convince people that it's the best. |
| Re: Mercedes Benz Thread by thebigkendo(m): 9:16am On Apr 16, 2019 |
HeavenlyBang:Preach!!! |
| Re: Mercedes Benz Thread by shortgun(m): 9:28am On Apr 16, 2019 |
HeavenlyBang:Am not trying to convince any1 mate ...I know my car like the back of my palm, why spend over 30k servicing an engine that is not more than 50k in the market top down. Doesn't make economic sense. The worst is that one will still buy fake oil labelled as Mobil 1. This what they won't tell u. They will ask people to revert to Mobil 1 without putting into consideration the history of the car. For Gods seek we don't have a freezing whether here. Viscosity is notated with the common "XW-XX." The number preceding the "W" rates the oil's flow at 0 degrees Fahrenheit (-17.8 degrees Celsius). The "W" here stands for winter, not weight as many people think. The lower the number here, the less the oil thickens in the cold. So 5W-30 viscosity engine oil thickens less in the cold than a 10W-30, but more than a 0W-30. An engine in a colder climate, where motor oil tends to thicken because of lower temperatures, would benefit from 0W or 5W viscosity. The second number after the "W" indicates the oil's viscosity measured at 212 degrees Fahrenheit (100 degrees Celsius). This number represents the oil's resistance to thinning at high temperatures. For example, 10W-30 oil will thin out at higher temperatures faster than 10W-40 will. |

shortgun:Do whatever works for you. We didn't contribute money to buy the car for you after all. |
