Former head of state of Nigeria, General Yakubu Gowon and his wife Victoria Gowon are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.The dinner took place at Silk Road Resturant Abuja.

They were hosted by Alex Addingi the country Director of Silk Road Restaurant, fmr Super Eagles captain Amokachi was also at the event, which was private and had just few family members in attendance.

General Yakubu Gowon was Nigeria’s third military Head of State, and he was in power from August 1, 1966 to July 29, 1975. He took power after one military coup d’état and was overthrown in another.

In 1969, precisely on April 19, Gowon married Victoria Zakari, in Lagos.

Gowon, the ibo will not forget him quick . He gave Ojukwu a good kicking then Ojukwu fled to Abidjan . Then came another Maxi Kanu , one gun shot he was in the forest only to appear in Israel .

Congratulations Sir .This is one of the most respect leader in this country .He stayed clear politics and play a fatherly role to all president and always praying for Nigeria .May you live long in good health in Jesus Christ name

Happy married life to one of an icon in Nigeria

Happy Anniversary sir, I remember my mum told me she trekked to his wedding all because their teacher told them they must attend so as to discuss in class.

So Gowon ruled Nigeria for over two years as a bachelor ? Am just imagining I was the mother of his wife back then, at least two oil wells for dey inside the dowry list aside other largesse ... Quote-insult me and die hanging upside down from a metallic cross.

BTW Happy 50th wedding anniversary General "G"... Tonto Dike and other Nollywood folks should learn from you Sir.
