There is a big question hanging on crucifixion.

Jesus said he was going to spend 3 days and 3 nights in the heart of the earth just as Jonah spent 3 days and 3 nights in the belly of the fish.

Jesus was crucified on Friday. He was said to have risen on Sunday. This cannot be up to 3 days and 3 nights. The prophecy was not fulfilled and this is a big doubt on crucifixion and the entire Christian faith.

there is no necessity that what happened should be exactly how jesus described it.
What was necessary is that, jesus was in the grave 3 days before he resurrected.
Even if he was there 2 days and 18 hours that is close to 3 days already.

Do you realise that Daniel prophesied that jesus was going to spend approximately 9 years on his journey from galilee to jerusalem where he was to be crucified but the time frame was shortened to less than 4 years?

Matthew 24:22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.

That tells you that fulfilment of prophesies may not happen exactly the way it was originally intend to be, but the bottomline is, the prophecy is fullfilled.

Therefore it very meaningless to start asking question like time frame when what we actually need is fulfillment of the prophecy
