I have at least 10 years experience in logistics and am still in it why not you create a whatapp group that will involve owners of trucks and truck brokers strictly on logistics matters who deviates will be deleted. Where we can advertise business on logistics as a broker and truck owners come to our rescue thanks

Hello,

Would any of the truck owners be interested in optimising diesel used in your trucks so that the fuel delivery system stays clean and the diesel burns better resulting in lower consumption and cost ?

I know this sounds like snake oil but it is not.

Been a while guys so I decided to update this thread. Well, haulage is one of the best business you can do in Nigeria despite the risk and stress involved. Haulage and logistics is simply the movement of goods, services and people from one place to another. In Nigeria, The only means through which goods are transported effectively right now is by the road and that is why haulage business is booming in the country. The profit is bountiful and guaranteed.

Some of the products that can be transported through haulage services are:
Human beings.. This include transportation of humans from a part of the country to another. Transporting humans is also part of logistics business. Do not stereotype the haulage business to be about moving of goods.

Others include Petroleum products Consumer goods from the manufacturing companies.
Building materials such as cements, woods, irons, ceiling boards, corrugated sheets, and every other construction materials of these kinds. Containers from the seaport to the final destination or from destination to the seaport.

However there are some things to note, haulage business is risky, and capital intensive. You would need about $50,000 to start( about 16 million naira, pls pardon me I like to speak in dollars lol) also you know how Nigerian drivers are..most are reckless when driving thereby causing accidents but you may lessen the effect of this through insurance packages; (I will speak extensively on this later).

I would highlight some opportunities in the sector which can be harnessed..

1: You can be an owner. Either truck or buses. One major way of entering into the haulage sector is by owning a truck or bus as the case my require. However entering into the haulage sector through this means is capital intensive. Getting a good truck or good bus costs about millions.. But this is a good way to start. Even if you don't want to manage your vehicle yourself, you can put it in care of a reputable fleet management company.

2. Sale of trucks and parts. Another compartment in the haulage and logistics sector is the sale and importation of whole trucks and spare parts. Trucks are not produced in Nigeria, people who want to go into the business need a supplier of trucks and truck spare parts. If your niche is selling of goods.. You can get into the haulage and logistics sector by providing people with the trucks they need and spare parts they require.
I will continue later on the other compartments and how to effectively function in the compartments.

If you have any personal questions you want to ask or you intend to get into any if the sectors.. You can reach me on Oluadewale007@gmail.com. even though I'm usually busy I will try and reply you on time.

Happy easter break to you. Using a hilux to start is very good. It has space boot-wise You can start by engaging all the medium sized warehouse in your location. Also try and talk to people having big shops even mid sized shops in your location. You can start from there, and expand later. Haulage and logistics is also like really estate. The more you advertise your business to the right people, the more your chances of securing a deal.. You have to be very outgoing and bold to talk to people

Happy easter to us all.. Been a while let me drop the other 2 ways one can participate in the haulage and logistics sector.

Also another way to be in the logistics sector is through fleet management

actually entering into fleet management is actually way cheaper and you don't need much money to start except money for registration of the fleet company and other related expenses. However being a fleet manager is more time consuming and stressful.

Fleet management involves helping people manage their trucks and paying them a commission per month.
People will bring in their trucks to your company, register it with you, while you go out and look for the deals. And you pay them per month. Its just like they buy shares into your company by means of buying tricks and handing it over to you

You need some people skills, you need to be able to reach out to a lot of people and flow with them easily. Also you need to be able to secure deals and secure people who have trucks but can't manage it themselves. there are lots of people out there who have trucks and don't know how to manage it also there are other people out there who have the money to invest but don't know what to invest in. Encouraging people to invest in your business is no small deal we all know that. With scammers all around the place. However you can Still make a head way.

you will be in charge of the trucks securing deals and maintaining the trucks. so you are more like a broker fleet management is also more like a broker however a broker is different from a fleet manager. A broker dosent need to register a company. All he needs to do is look for the deals, look for truck owners and connect them together for a commission. A fleet manager is also more organised

Another part of the haulage and logistic which people benefit from is the services sector.

if you are a mechanic or a mechanical engineering graduate without a job or being underpaid, a very good place to enter into logistics is actually through services and consulting. this includes servicing of trucks, repairing the trucks and consultancy services on the type and brand of trucks to buy for a particular purpose

However you need to be trained so you can speak authoritatively when you speak to people about trucks to buy or what to do about their trucks. in nigeria most truck mechanics do their work is just trial and error. Why don't you go out there and make a difference.

you have any personal questions you want to ask or you intend to get into any if the sectors.. You can reach me on Oluadewale007@gmail.com. even though I'm usually busy I will try and reply you on time.

Note* I'm not a writer I just want to pass a message of opportunities across to Nigerian youths
