Owerri has only one Mall but there are dozens of mini malls like Everyday, Priceless, Bestway etc. I don't know of any new mall

It is now very clear that Okoroawusa failed woefully in his wasted 8yrs. Imo state was going in a vicious circle for 8yrs. Despite over 250b Okorocha borrowed, there's absolutely nothing to show except one or two of those short shabby roads. With all the mountain of debt Okorocha incurred, one would be expecting to see signature projects but Nada. He used even borrowed funds to mold statues. Who did this to Imo state?

Okoroawusa is a candidate for prison.

Imo state airport actually looks very nice. I don't see anything wrong with it. People always want to build big airports, but you build based on need. I went through PHC airport, and the whole place looked dead. The traffic in the airport did not justify the huge expense. I asked the people why, and they told me that it's only Lufthansa and Air France that is patronizing it. When you go to American and european airports, you will be amazed at how crowded the atmosphere is, with thousands of people arriving or departing. One time, while waiting for an interconnecting flight, I decided to observe what was going on outside. I took a sit near the window and was shocked with disbelief as I saw planes taking off and arriving at what seems like every 5 minutes. Same thing on their highways. Nigerian roads (nigeria really doesn't have highways) are mostly empty with hardly any traffic. American highways are chocked with thousands upon thousands of cars, so much so, that every hour is rush hour even at 2 am in the morning.

It's a totally and completely different world, with what you have in civilized soceities and what is obtainable in third world countries. If you'd have the chance to experience it, the contrast is MIND BOGGLING. There's absolutely no words to describe it.
I've never read so much garbage in my life.

Oh, just to mention. ''Third world countries'' are not the opposite of ''civilized countries''.

You can be a ''third world country'', and be more civilized than a developed country.

Civilization is about human interaction. It's not about things.

I don't understand why Rochas is crossing those irons over the roads.

I think it's a complete waste of resources.

In Nigeria, building structures is not our challenge...maintaining them is.

They are streetlights and I think they will last more than the regular ones. This one on Freedom road was installed in 2013 and has not been repaired for once unlike the conventional ones.

Son,I don't know your age,but let me take you on a little educational trip: Heavily laden trucks have a way of destroying roads, especially roads that are within residential-designated areas.
Most of those roads are constructed for to withstand residential consumption.
Secondly, those rails are constructed to stop the usahe of those residential roads by heavy duty trucks. As you all know in Nigeria every goes including indiscipline: The purpose of that is to enforce the non-usage of that road by stubborn Truck drivers, with that in place the roads shall last and retain it's beauty for a long time thereby saving the state of economic resources.

Young man!!! It's not a waste of resources.

Imo state is a cursed state.

Owerri is a backward dilapidated backward village filled with useless people.

Imo state is the least developed state in the SE.

Imo state is where ritual killing started in Nigeria- OTOKOTO

IMO state is the headquarters of kidnapping.

Imo state is the headquarters of armed robbery.

Imo state is the headquarters commercial sex hawking.

Imo state is the only state in the SE where it's Gov is a ritualist that used his rotten legs for rituals.

2/3rd of Imolites are resident in Anambra where they see as their greener pasture. Whereas there's no single Anambran resident anywhere in Imo state.

One billionaire from Anambra can buy the whole of imo state, demolish it and use it for rice farm.

95% Imolites are poor except those ones that live in Onitsha, PH, Lagos or Abuja..

No one has ever made money through genuine way living in Owerri except the pers is an armed robber.

Imo state is a very backward, rural state.

Imo state is a worthless, useless and hopeless state. I spit on Imo state because it is cursed.

That's a typical anambra personality for u.Pride, arrogance, hate, discriminatory, lust for money. They are ready to sell their brothers because of money and greed. Look at all the atrocities being committed by Igbo's within and outside Nigeria, 90% are from them.Ranging from drugs, kidnapping, Ogwu ego,arm robbery ,political pull him down syndrome. No wonder a governor said all the problems igbos are facing are from them.Still they insult their brothers from IMO,Enugu, ebonyi and Abia.Despite all the money they claim they have, still their state looks very rural and red earthed.

I just did a Google search and found out that the first ritual killing in Nigeria actually happened in OWERRI IMO STATE- OTOKOTO. This is shameful

Smarty-pants, I am afraid you haven't made a point.

If you don't want trucks to ply a road, just one rail over the road with a caution sign and the job is done.

No reasonable governor will litter the road with poles just to prevent motorists from using the road.
Go to Computer Village flyover to see what I mean. Who is more stubborn than Lagos drivers?

I was even expecting more intelligent response like this type of light is more beautiful than the ones we are used to in Nigeria.

It's difficult for Nigeria's government to maintain the usual one-pole streetlights let alone when there are three pillars that suspend just one light.

Come back in five years' time and read your comment...that's when you will understand what I meant when I said this type of streetlight is completely unnecessarily because they will be lying in ruins.

Nobody is arguing with you so leave Imo State thread since you believe you are superior.

Abagworo you are a bastard, but you didn't advise your brother who has been trolling on Anambra thread. Or have you forgotten when you were doing similar as am doing now. Useless people.

This one is already 6 years old and not in ruins. Go back to page 54 of this thread and see 2014 photos of same place. It's finer and requires less maintenance than the single iron poles. The only challenge is sabotage.

Re: Few Pics From Imo State by Imo1stson: 9:23am On Apr 25, 2019
2012 vs 2019. If not for the obvious 5 storey Suncity Hotel structure majority would have argued. That place was a forest without road as at 2012 when Rochas first graded it and tarred it later though not solid but it changed the entire landscape.

Re: Few Pics From Imo State by Asshurbanipali: 9:28am On Apr 25, 2019
Abagworo would have opened a thread with this if this were to be Anambra.

I must admit that they are really attractive, but the point you raised about them requiring less maintenance cost is debatable.

What's more? Something tells me that they are still in a good condition because we have a governor who is obsessed with Owerri.

I firmly believe that the narratives will change when another with an entirely different development ideology takes over.

In any case, I'd love to see the new governor maintain them.

I rest my case.

Is that the name they call those buildings?

For over a decade, it has been abandoned.

I'm wondering why government hasn't bought it yet.

Do you know the story behind the buildings?

Which one is exclusive stores again?! and how sure are you that spa, next and roban stores would soon open in Owerri ? Have the shopping center Rochas built in Okohia layout now functioning or it is idle like his wife All In Mall along Aba road ?

By the way, you are doing a good job updating this thread with lovely pictures of Owerrri and environs. Developments are also picking up in Asaba, Delta State.
