There are Ijaw communities in Ondo state, Obasanjo forcefully added them to Ondo state to make SW an oil producing region. There's no crude oil in SW for now.

In the beginning, Ijaw people are never even close to Delta state let alone Ondo, they came in as a result of occupational migration. I can tell you until early 1990s they still pay royalties to their host communities in Ilaje/Ese-Odo LG. They were initially employed to tap palm-wine from the abundant palm forest found in this place, and as time went on they got integrated into some of their host communities because of linearity and accommodating nature of their host (the Ilajes) and soon grabbed the lands which were given to them as farm land (palm forest) due to the fact that the Ilajes deal mainly in deep sea fishing and so they mostly occupied the coastal lines while the Ijaws worked for them in the palm forest.

OPEC has ordered that Nigeria should reduce their barrel-per-day (bpd) production from 6,000 to nothing more than 2,500. This is in the bid to drastically reduce gas flaring and save the environment. The world is turning to alternative energy solutions that don't need petrol.

If Dangote had envisaged this about 4 years ago before he started the refinery project, I am sure he would have halted it!

Just like he recently sold his flour mills, I know he will sell the refinery to the highest bidder with an underpriced amount in the nearest future.

And talking about safeguarding his investments, I am sure the oil wells that caught fire in Ondo were well safeguarded right?

cescky:

Very sensible post

Truth is if Dangote where to be in a civil society he won't amass this type of wealth...his wealth is gotten by fg chaining his competition and allowing him freedom.

With his type of money if he looked into green energy, he would only make more money in years to come and would have greatly propelled Nigeria... but as competition node he won't think on his feet

Why are you people easily taken in by senseless propaganda?

6,000 barrels per day to 2,500 bpd? When Nigeria is producing 2 million barrels per day. Don’t tell me you meant 6 million barrels because Nigeria doesn’t even have capacity to produce 3 million.

Secondly, what concerns opec with gas flaring? Perhaps you think it is all oil wells in world that have associated gas to be flared? That is peculiar to very few countries. Gas is not under opec purview, that is why Qatar withdrew its membership because it now sees itself as a gas country not oil producing country.

Thirdly, opec exempted Nigeria from production cut because Nigeria could even hardly meet its assigned quota. By the way, the production cut is to reduce oil glut so as to artificially raised the prices when oil prices crashed. The re-imposed sanction on Iran by the USA means the production cut will be reviewed even though Nigeria was never included.

Dangote would have a lot of problems sourcing over 500k barrels of crude oil everyday for his refinery to process

Why would he have problem sourcing for half a million barrels per day?

Nigeria produces 2 million per day. It is to Nigeria’s advantage that it now have a ready market for a quarter of that production. Note that whatever Dangote buys from Nigeria is regarded as part of its agreed opec production quota.

Now supposing something happened to Nigeria oil wells and Nigeria cannot produce, Dangote will simply import all the crude it needs from other producing countries. Even USA will gladly fill the vacuum. It won’t stop production even for a second.

Nigeria produces less than 2 million barrels per day.

The foreign oil companies that mine our crude oil take 40% of the crude oil and give FG 60%.

Leaving us with 1.1 - 1.2 million barrels.

Some crude oil will be looted.

FG would have to sell some as well to generate funds.

The remaining crude oil will be far less than 600k barrels daily, which Dangote needs.

He also has the Niger deltans to contend with to get crude oil he needs.

Oga calm down..no need for filty language and long story.

Fact the world is gradually going green

If America had an Obama or a regular man as president, oil would have faded faster... Trump is anti green energy and pro oil..yet electronic cars and green energy is growing so imagine if he's was a normal president..OPEC or no OPEC oil isnt the future.

Fact Dangote has always been given freedom to reign while competition is stifled..

Fact if he was in developed he would he would see sense in what am saying and think on his feet, but like I said competition node so na lazy money he dr make

What is wrong with these Nigerians?

Nigeria uses her crude oil export sales to maintain relationships with several countries and that is why they MUST export. It is the only thing the country has to export. Selling all 1.2 million barrels of crude oil daily to Dangote means Nigeria as a nation would now have almost zero exports.

THEY MUST EXPORT.

Rivers state and Bayelsa states aren't the only places Ijaw are found in Nigeria, occupational migration didn't affect the ijaws much, they aren't known not to be travellers. U yorubas sit down in ur homeland n talk about Nigeria, a nation u guys know nothing about. The case of ijaws being only from old rivers state(as their only homeland) is the same senseless arguements that u guys try to make about IGBOS, that IGBOS are only found in the SE.

Ijaws have long settled in several places in the whole SS thousands of years ago, it was Sharing of states that separated many Ijaw villages from Bayelsa n rivers state n joined them with Akwaibom, Ondo, Edo, Delta, etc. Same way state creation removed many IGBOS from SE n sent them to SS and middle belt.

Ijaw land doesn't mean old rivers, Ijaws can be found in other states there. Ijaws live across the whole riverine areas (close to the Atlantic ocean) in Rivers, Akwaibom, Delta, Ondo, Edo, etc......Ijaw have always lived among the waters.

Goan check ur map, Ondo, Edo, Delta, Bayelsa and rivers states are all connected by land mass n before sharing of states, were mostly wiithing one or two region
