Guess you were stamped your visa, just that they gave you a week stay.

Present onward ticket means, you should travel in but you must have a return ticket or a ticket to take you out (return or onward) to another destination (If you have many waka).

They increased mine from 13 day to 15days. I wish i can dash you sef, because i'm only staying 1 week eventually. I no wan stay too much. I caught cold...

i wish there is a way to extend my stay cos i intend exploring Johannesburg and cape town.if i can get like 2weeks,1 week in cape and 1 in jorg

So, I've been checking this forum since I applied for my SA visa and I've "tapped" a lot for future use since I had submitted before discovering this forum.

Here's my experience:

Visa Type: Tourist
Drop off: VFS Abuja
Submission date: March 1
Passport return date: April 23
Duration: 7 weeks sharp
Visa: Yes
Call? No call

Best wishes to those still waiting...

500k minimum is okay. You need to book a return flight but you do not need to pay for it, book the flight a day before you submit your application.

To begin with, if you have plans to travel by June I advice you apply at least 6 weeks before your proposed departure date.

Secondly, visa application fee is less than 40k if you apply by yourself. However you need to find out the list of required application documents.

Depending on how early you book your flight and where you are going to flight prices vary. For instance, flights to joburg are usually cheaper. Less than 150k for a return ticket to joburg. Flights to Capetown and other cities are usually expensive. On a average, keep a budget of 250k.

For accommodation, I will advice you try airbnb. It's usually much cheaper and gives a variety of choice to make. If you have a big taste for houses, keep a budget of 100 dollars per night.

If you are going to SA for the first time I advise you don't go to Joburg on your first visit. Capetown is a very lovely city. You will love it.

Lastly, nobody books flight and accommodation during visa application. When you get to vfs, those guys hustling around would help you for a token.

I hope this helps.

Pls, how can I book the flight without paying? The last time I was charged over 10k for flight itinerary. Thank You!

Just go to South Africa airways or Kenya airways site and book the flight, choose the option to pay later. it is very easy.

Hello guys,
You have all been of immense help on this thread so many suggestions and advises.
The Almighty GOD will favour us all.
Pls I have a very important question
I will be traveling this weekend to Johannesburg on a study visa to start my PhD program.

Do I need to hold any physical cash at hand, what I meant is,are the immigration officers going to ask for the cash at my hand or my account.

Cos I don't fancy holding cash at hand
Can I show them.the money on my mobile account, that I have sufficient money to cater for myself.

Pls anybody should answer me oo

You don’t need to hold any physical cash, people hardly travel with currency these days due to safety. Credit card is enough.

Amount that will be sufficient for you for few months in SA. Only pay for flight when your visa is out.

This is the response I got from VFS after mailing to inquire about my application;

"Dear Sir/Madam,

Thank you for the mail,
Kindly be informed that Our record shows that your Passport was ready and has been collected.

Best Regards"

Meanwhile, I paid for courier service and I've neither been called nor mailed regarding my application delivery. It's 10 weeks and 2 days now. What should I do next please?

For almost 2weeks now, the page just load and reload without any feedback after typing my reference number and D.O.B, for long I thought it was network problem or site issue.

Thanks...

Since you paid for courier service and they said your passport has been collected and nothing was delivered to you

Then I think you should go there and get your passport
