*Says Igbos Need Nigeria More Than Nigeria Needs Them

Prince Tony Momoh, a former Minister of Information, on Thursday said it is erroneous for some Nigerians to believe that Igbos will secede if they have the opportunity of producing the president of Nigeria.

Speaking with Daily Independent from Dubai, Momoh said Igbos need Nigeria more than the country needs them and as such will not do anything that will jeopardise the unity of the country.

Momoh, who said Igbos are present in every village in the country, also said that the Igbos are more prosperous in a united Nigeria and as such will strive to maintain the oneness rather than choose to go away.

“People are just playing politics by saying the Igbos will go away if they are opportune to produce the president.

“If you look at the constitution of the country, the Igbos need Nigeria more than the country needs them. I say so with all sense of responsibility. There is no village in the whole of Nigeria where you don’t have an Igbo man.

“There is nowhere in Nigeria where the Igbo man does not feel at home. The Igbos have commercial presence everywhere in Nigeria. The Igbos have population spread in Nigeria more than any other tribe. So, why will they want to secede?

“So, if there is anybody who should fight for Nigeria to be one, it should be the Igbos. So, if they become president, they will be in position to even want to maintain the unity of Nigeria more than any other ethnic group.

“Any person saying if Igbos become president, they will secede does not know what he is talking about. Are they not progressing better now when the country is united than If we break-up?” Momoh asked.

That is the truth.

The spirit of Azikiwe would suddenly take over, and they would become contented with ruling over others, even if they harbour hatred towards those tribes.

But the moment they are out of power again, they will begin to wail that the same policies they initiated, was not in the best interest of the Igbos.

They will cry marginalization, but the likes of me would not even be moved by their crocodile tears, and would just enjoy the entertainment provided by such obvious hypocrisy.

We did not hear Igbos cough during the tenure of Jonathan, as they were busy with mouthfuls of whatever they could lay their hands on, hence the need to defend their stomachs when the rest of Nigeria realised that President was a clueless re.tard.

The Army was termed as gallant, the police was termed as professional, and any negative news against the government was termed as lies by the opposition.

The major reason some political elites are not comfortable with an Igbo presidency is not because of succession, but majorly because:

- An Igbo man is very unlikely to be answerable to any cabal..

Igbos hate nobody or tribe or region, how does a tribe which majors on trading begin to hate other tribes?

They are always open to say things as they are without fear or favours.
At different points in time, to those it affects, they feel Igbos hate them, to those it don't they align with them.. that is why it seems they are loved and hated at different times, but one thing is they always say it as it is..

They voted OBJ, Yaradua, GEJ, Atiku and supported Saraki... these are SW, NW, SS, NE and NC, so where is the hate?

Rather, it's the Nigerian state that needs the Igbo more than the reversal.The Eastern region held the Nigerian nation @ bay for about three years until the Western imperialists have to offer assistance and bounced back resiliently after the civil war to again dominate almost all aspects of our national life except the military.

Meanwhile, what does the core north have to show having ruled this nation for more than two-third of its existence? Absolutely nothing but adding to our national problem. sad
