Last week, a neighbor kissed my 6-month-old on her lips. I was so surprised and upset, I didn't even respond. I think it's unhygienic and disgusting. Am I overreacting? How can I be polite, but make sure this doesn't happen again? |

I just came out and said to a friend "We kiss cheeks in this family." it hasn't happened again. Sometimes being direct is the best way to go. It is simple and there is no confusion later. You are absolutely correct. Stand your ground and do not allow unhygienic people infect your babies. You will not be popular with the position BUT PLEASE ENFORCE IT I had a similar experience with my twins years back, a family relative came and failed to wash her hands before carrying one the twins. She ended up infecting her and that kept us in the hospital for 4 days and my sweetheart daughter's name on Americans CDC register as the form of the infection was very rare in the States Please and please STAND YOUR GROUND you need to protect your babies first and foremost and you knew the ordeal you went through before they arrived.
