I'm not sure what you mean by appropriate group exactly but since the aforementioned book is one I've read at least three times and using the class I got for narratives on Wikipedia, I'll say Purple Hibiscus is a proper fiction and a novel.

REASON: Proper fiction because all the characters are from the authors mind and have no correlation with any real individuals.

A novel because it is above 50,000 words cheesy
