Ronaldo started playing professional soccer in 2002. So from 2002 to 2008 is 6 seasons. Count the number of games he played then.
Messi started his professional(not amateur) career as a Right wing forward-a far more advanced role than a Right midfielder- alongside Ronaldinho(left) and eto'o(centre) in a 4-3-3 formation. Even in 2007 when RIIJkaard used a 3-4-3 messi was deployed on right as a right wing forward alongside Henry(left) and eto'o centre, with Ronaldinho taking a deeper role in a 4-man midfielder. Messi became a false 9 in 2010 just before the 4-1 thrashing of arsenal until 2014/15 season when suarez came in to play at the centre with messi in a free role but basically as a right wing forward.
So no. Messi started earlier as a forward(2005) than Ronaldo(2008?) and Ronaldo scored 42 goals in 07/08 as a right midfieder, he even broke a record that season as the highest scoring midfielder in EPL history and man united highest scoring midfieder since Denis law.
And Ronaldo scoring goals from striking positions?
