This is serious.

However, I disagree with those who say that the demand is higher in Enugu.

Enugu cannot compete with Lagos in terms of demand for China trips. Enugu and surrounding states combined cannot boasts of regular China visitors like those in markets like Alaba, Aspamda, Computer Village, Idumota, Ladipo, Oshodi, Balogun/Nnamdi Azikiwe street, etc.

Except they believe that traders in Lagos travel to Enugu in order to board flights to China.

It only makes sense that to attract patronage, airlines should decrease the cost of their airfare.

And for those who have reduced this discussion to a tribal war, note that the airlines in questions are foreign ones.

My 2 cent tho.
what about kano and Kaduna how many abokis dey travel to China? If u are talking about number of customers Onitsha and nnewi alone will challenge kano and Kaduna put together.among the 4 state that fly to China direct it is still the igbos that make the greater percentage of their customers. Aboki no dey go China in large numbers, Yoruba no dey go China in Large numbers, for the abokis saudi, for the Yoruba's London. So why the difference in Enugu. The Igbo's are migrants they should have made Enugu more cheaper, if not for the hatred of the Igbo's,even Kaduna that u can not travel by road to that should have been more costly going by your assertion of low pertronage.

FAAN ,NAMA, charges more landing, parking fees plus Radar management services at Enugu airport.
A deliberate policy of the ministry of Aviation who oversees those parastatals .
The airlines naturally adjusted their prices.

I'm not surprised this kind of statement is coming from a former Minister of the Federal Republic, afterall it is the worst of the worst minds that make in into power in Nigeria.

Conduct this experiment: Lagos - Toronto vs. Lagos to Calgary. Same country, but observe the huge price difference. This gentleman does not understand the simple explanation that it is cheaper to fly to a city that serves as a hub to other destinations. Flying into Atlanta or New York is cheaper than flying into say, Sacramento. The reverse is the same because the airline has to factor in the cost of landing somewhere else before leaving for the final destination. Like it or not, Enugu international airport is not a major hub at the moment, and there's no one to say that cannot change in a few years.

This ill-informed charlatans are bent on stoking the coals of ethnic tension to satisfy their desire to rule and further divide an already broken country. To his mentally blindfolded supporters, I offer my heartfelt condolences on the death of common sense.

Don’t know why igbos always complain of inequality
May be other tribes too should also start complaining to God for making the igbos a superior race compared to other races in Nigeria.
Dear igbos to whom much is given much is expected
You shouldn’t expect to be placed at par with other tribes......

Idiotic Minister without brain....

He should first ask himself why Ibadan-Abuja is 45k while Lagos to Abuja is 20-25k

The reason its like this is because there's no competition in Enugu airport, and less passengers. Sometimes, Overland will bring just 5 passengers all the way from Abuja to Ibadan, but then, the price tickets are killing. Abuja and Lagos tickets will always be cheaper compared to other airports because of patronage and competition

How many ppl travel from kaduna if I may ask that makes it the cheapest ? Enugu airport is by far busier than kaduna airport so how come kd is cheaper

Rants like from the most shophistiwretched tribe.

A huge %age of people who use Ethiopian Airline to China are from the Eastern side of Nigeria.
Common sense died in many of you who don't see need to open up PH, Calabar, Warri, seaports in East side to attract businesses and flight users to the East, instead, you senseless people plan to build other seaports in already congested Lagos.

Thank you bros! These people are just PURELY EVIL!

The whole intention of that fixing of runway at Abuja airport and transfering passengers to Kaduna airport was to sneakily upgrade the infrastructure at Kaduna airport and make it take on int'l flights as they were eyeing the int'l operations at AIIA Enugu with hatred and envy! They were like: angryhow dare PDP, GEJ and Princess Stella upgrade AIIA Enugu to int'l operations....didn't they read the script written after the civil war that Igbos and Alaigbo should be marginalised, deprived of any federally assisted investments and rendered useless? I mean, how bloody dare they! angry

They were furious that there were three int'l airports in the south and two in the north, and they just had to do something about it! Any wonder works on the new int'l terminal at AIIA Enugu stopped as soon as the bigot-in-chief Buhari and his relative Hadi-Sirika assumed office! The useless eye-service visit Hadi-Sirika made to Enugu (when south-east members of the national assembly compalined about the poor state of infrastructure at AIIA) what has come of it?

'One Nigeria'...don't you just love it!? wink
Re: Osita Chidoka: Disparity In Air-fares At Nigerian Airports by Xander85: 1:37pm On May 02, 2019
I said it in 2015 didn't i....i said it when GEJ was still president, that if perchance Buhari/APC manage to snatch the keys to Aso Rock, that we should kiss goodbye to any meaningful development for AIIA Enugu. But even i couldn't predict what's going on with that airport now; the little gains we made during the GEJ regime have been stagnated and even eroded by this wicked, anti-Igbo Buhari/APC gov't!

God bless you for this!!!

Why must it be a tribal thingy huh?

Why whip up the tribalism card to score cheap pointshuh

What he should have done before tweeting was to ask the airline operators why the discrepancy?

Anyone would be able to explain why the price variation .

We have more traders here in Lagos and Abuja .
Those airports are well established and have more traffic compared to that of Enugu.

I won't be surprised if the passengers from Enugu are either ferried to Abuja or Lagos before going to China due to the low number of passengers or the low number of flights that go from Enugu.

This victim card player by the Ibo leaders isn't taking anyone anywhere .
