Air Peace has responded to multiple claims alleging the airline charges higher tickets on eastern destinations. In a statement signed by management, the company said demand and supply principles are the criteria that determine ticket prices.

Air Peace stated that its automated price system is set up in a certain way such that the higher fares are automatically displayed as the aircraft seats full up.

He added that ticket prices will increase according to passenger demand for seats. The airline claims that this applies not only to its domestic airline fare system but also to the international airline fare system, both of which use the same basic principle. Given that the same system regulated ticketing and fares worldwide, it noted that this procedure adheres to international standard practice. Yuletide season driving surge The airline explained that the Yuletide season usually witnessed a high demand in the eastern regions as more people travel to the airports located in the South-south and Southeast regions.

It noted:
“Increased demand for flight tickets/high passenger traffic to these destinations this season automatically impacts how aircraft seats get sold. The seats get sold out faster than some routes with less traffic. Therefore, the airline booking engine reservation system displays the higher fares faster even though eventually, the higher fares will get displayed on the less traffic routes as the seats get fuller, too.”

Addressing the misrepresentation of facts and wrong accusations about the airline’s business model making the rounds on social media, it added that the airline fosters and promotes peace and unity amongst the different ethnic groups in Nigeria. “Lately, we have observed several posts on social media in which the authors purport that Air Peace is extorting Easterners with ‘high ticket fares.’ They intend to whip up ethnic sentiments against Air Peace and the Chairman, Dr. Allen Onyema, by insinuating that the airline has continued to favour Northerners at the expense of the Easterners in its ticket pricing.

Onyema is a big fool for putting up this warp comeback defense, because I'm highly disappointed at him. There's no justification to hike up in threefolds when the other prevalent price determining factors have not varied. Higher demand than supply can never be enough to trigger such humongous hike by over 300% . It's just pure greed! You want to make the whole money you didn't make since January to November just in a couple of weeks. I blame the government for lack of price regulatory agencies in the country. Imagine this big fool with a lame defence.

This ticketing system will never cease to amaze me. I saw a video where a domestic airline flew to the south south or south east with less than 20 passengers because the air fare was outrageous.

I understand that demand drives up price for some services but will it not amount to a faster turnover if you increase the number of flights per day and reduce the airfares encouraging even more people to use air transportation?

I thought exclusivity, unpopular routes and price of aviation fuel are the major factors that lead to price increase in air fares, I didn't know high demand also does.

Please can anyone with adequate knowledge of aviation ticketing system educate me.

Chaii Nigerians and their entitlement mentality. That’s how air flight works in every other country. Prices are determined by the forces of demand, 200 people going to Anambra can never pay same amount with 22 people going to Kaduna. Even at that, the first 10 -20 people to buy ticket on a flight to Anambra might pay significantly less than the last 20 -30 people going to Anambra on that same flight. That’s how it is done everywhere. But Nigerians won’t agree, they’ll insult and fight you in their sheer ignorance.

This is understandable considering the purchasing power and the nomadic nature of Easterners, especially during the Yuletide

Furthermore, the more lucrative a route is to the airline, the lower the prices. This informed why London to New York could be cheaper than Lagos to London.

Air peace is right.
Ticket fare for eastern routes should be higher than any other route in the country this period.

Abi ooo

This shows the level of damages APC, Buhari and Tinubu has completely destroy Nigeria

Ebuka probably enter bus 5k less than 10 years ago under Goodluck Jonathan and now Ebuka will be at loss on how to explain the price explosion to his kids who will find it hard to believe that the price is 5k not too long ago

Election truly have consequences

In the next 10 years Ebuka children will probably pay 400k for same transport route simply because their tribalist, dumb and naive countrymen keep voting nonsense over sense every election cycle

The only good thing is that Ebuka and his people are still able to afford this irrespective of the price but unfortunately same can't be said of regions where rice meant for chief are been waylaid or regions where ShopRite have to close down because the people are too damn poor to afford things

Merry Christmas oo
