You ended up writing nothing. What do you mean by both snapdragon and mediatek are based on architecture? Differentiate between the two you're there beating around the bush.

Who said snapdragon utilizes battery better than mediatek? Your Samsung phone and tecno which one dies faster? Get your facts right before you write what you don't know.

Mind you SoC mean system on chip not system on a chip and it means an IC that has complete components of a computer like CPU, input/output,memory etc

The guy rushed the article and he wrote based on his understanding of SoCs. He omitted ARM somewhere in the article.

Mediate and Snapdragon are the same thing. Snapdragon just has brand and has been in the market for long. Budget phones are also good especially if you from Nigeria
Try Ulefone,umdigi,blackview,Energizer,Xiaomi,meizu
Ninety five percent of Xiaomi phones are Snapdragon,

Only their very low of the low or older devices like Redmi 6A has Mediateks..

Don't compare Snapdragon to Mediateks,

Unless you are being mischievous..

Uncle what are you saying? 80% of all galaxy phones made are exzynos
Doesn't still mean that Exynos are as good as Snapdragons..

Except the Flagship Exynos SoC lines,

The midrange Exynos series are in no way comparable to Snapdragons..

If you are one of those guys planning to buy a new phone and you are really confused about whether to buy a phone running on Snapdragon or MediaTek chipset this post is for you.

As against what many of you think, Snapdragon and MediaTek are not just processors, they are called system on a chip or SoC in technical term. So what exactly is an SoC? It is a single chip which contains your CPU, GPU, cellular modem, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth modules etc.

Now if you are wondering why your old phone doesn’t support 4G that’s probably because it doesn’t have the necessary radio sensors built within its SoC. So it is important to know what SoC is used in the smartphone you are planning to buy. The two leading SoC makers at the moment are Qualcomm with its Snapdragon range and MediaTek with its MT chipsets. That leads us to a question.

Which SoC is better?-MediaTek Or Snapdragon
.

To answer this question, we need to compare the chipsets and find out what’s the difference between them. Considering the CPU, both Snapdragon and MediaTek processes are based on architecture. It is an architecture that is designed primarily for low energy consumption, for example, a typical quad-core processor has two high power cores for high performance and two low power cores for low energy consumption.

Now you may be wondering if both chipsets use the same architecture what’s the difference? The main difference is that MediaTek doesn’t tinker with the architecture whereas Qualcomm modifies architecture to optimize its chipset for better performance and low power consumption.

Considering the GPU, Qualcomm uses its own Adreno GPU in its chipset while MediaTek uses Arms Mali GPU. Both the GPUs are great but developers usually prefer Adreno to develop and test their games, so some apps and games will not be compatible with phones running on MediaTek Mali GPU.

PERFORMANCE
.

When it comes to performance. There is no comparison since MediaTek concentrates mostly in the budget segment whereas Snapdragon, on the other hand, is the standard chipset for all high-end phones. So how does Snapdragon chipset achieve high performance? The secret is heterogeneous computing.

Let me explain with an example, if we use the camera app on a Snapdragon chipset there is a separate camera module that processes the images and this utilizes less battery whereas in MediaTek processor both CPUs and GPUs are involved in image processing, this leads to more heat dissipation and faster battery drainage.

MediaTek believes in profit from volumes rather than bigger profits from selling lesser units. This is what has made the company the go-to chipset manufacturer for low-cost handsets, on the other hand, Qualcomm Snapdragon is all about cutting-edge technology and is a bit pricier.

Due to this reason, phones using Qualcomm chipsets are usually much pricier than the MediaTek counterparts.

So, finally which chipset is better? There is no simple answer for this, it really depends upon your usage and the price you are willing to spend. Go for MediaTek based devices if you are looking for budget smartphones. On the other hand, when your budget is higher going for a Qualcomm port smartphone is a better idea.

I am looking to buy a new phone but, am confused which one to buy with two phones topping my list, they include; umidigi s3pro and xiaomi note 7pro which run on media tek and snapdragon chipsets respectively.
From my scale of preference below, I list the main features that I so much desire my new phone will be equipped with;
1. Camera. I need a very good camera for taking pictures and videos of my products to display them online.
2. Battery. l really don't like charging or am always lazy when it comes to charging. I manage to charge just once a day.
3. RAM and ROM. I need a 6gb or more RAM that processes at a lightning speed cos, hate it when phone hangs and a huge ROM to save files, videos, and movies.
4. Finger print sensor. Like my phone to be more secure.
Having listed this, could you please help by telling me which one has the best performance and would wonderfully suit my desire.
Many thanks again as i look forward for your reply.

well said, however, most China phones ARE NOT mtk.....It's the Tecno, Infinix and Itel that are mtk. Oppo, Huawei, Xiaomi, Gionee, OnePlus, Vivo all use Snapdragon on MOST of their phones.
Huawei and Gionee made use of mtks ...even Xiaomi...the current huawei Y6 is mtk....why did the OP say snapdragon phones are better optimized and do not heat up...some snapdragon phones are cookers...dey need internal fan self.... The current helio p60 transcends some of this sd chips, optimization and all round

infinix hot 6X of snapdragon 430 abi 420 self Adreno 309..if I'm right with the figures......The infinix note 5 of mtk helio p23 beats the hot6 X....just because it is snapdragon doesn't make it better some snadragon chips are archaic..e.g the sd chip use in hot 6x

You set out to differentiate between Mediatek and Snapdragon and then...

You never mentioned Snapdragon till the end of your essay! undecided

Anyway, let me just assume that Snapdragon and Qualcomm means the same thing....

The Redmi Note 7 Pro is way above the Umidigi S3 Pro in performance, the Redmi Note 7 Pro has a Snapdragon 675 chipset with a 48MP Sony IMX586 Sensor which would produce better quality photos than the Umidigi S3 Pro has a MediaTek Helio P70 chipset with the same Sony 48MP IMX586, because Snapdragon chipsets comes with a dedicated Image Signal Processor(ISP) embedded in their chipsets.
Redmi Note 7 Pro uses Qualcomm Adreno 612 GPU which is better than the ARM Mali-G72 used on the Umidigi S3 Pro.
Although the Umidigi has a slightly better battery, but the Redmi Note 7 Pro battery is also very good.
Redmi Note 7 Pro would receive more software support than the Umidigi S3 Pro.

Every producer produces for a reason and for a certain market. Believe it or not, there are certain segments of the phone market that prefer the snapdragon to the mediaTek. Go for the tecnology you prefer. Tecno is only after reaching all or certain segments with its tecnology. Why is that difficult to understand. What would it profit them to make phones that no body will buy because its too expensive?

The Difference between Tecno and Huawei or Xiaomi is their use of the Snapdragon whilst Tecno is stuck in Mediatek purgatory.

I pity the Camon up there selling a 'Mediatek' timepiece.

That doesn't mean its not money. Naira is a currency made for a people. While dollar is a currency made for other people. They both have value and they target different people, which is very important in business or production. You MUST have your target audience, which is based on factors like, income level, occupation, location, purchasing power, etc.
