The only thing that can stop me from leaving now is getting an oil company job that pays me 1.2m and above per month. My 1.8m/month is already assured in the UK.

With N1.8 M/month in the UK (= 3,817 GBP/month), you will be a poor man. Better reconsider grin grin grin grin

Even someone of 2500 pounds per month is not a poor man. Let alone 3800 pounds

Well, it depends on what being poor means to different people. For a medical doctor, that is peanut = poor medical doctor

Locum jobs dey

More locum jobs = work yourself to death. More locum jobs = more taxes, = less time for family or anything else. Anyways..... good luck to you. Nigeria is rotten and needs a big overhaul. Each group in Nigeria needs to ask for restructuring or separation so each can salvage their portion of what is left of the fake giant of Africa

Pounds is not Naira. Anyone earning that amount a month in the UK is far from poor even by UK standards except he/she doesn't know how to order his/her priorities

Me I'm happy they are going let them go. Those that think they will go and sleep, do nothing, kill patients and collect big salary una go hear Nwi. You will work your asses like horses. Shey una know that horse boxer in Animal farm that worked to death. Na so una go be. And you dare not complain and if a client is unhappy with you you are in soup. Niggerians when no like work.

You are spending pounds in the UK, not Naira. For a medical doctor that is no money to sustain himself and his family there and send something back to his family in Nigeria. He will realize that when he gets there.

Not saying he should stay there (Nig). Just saying that based on the amount he mentioned, he will not meet certain expectations and would be disappointed.

Truth is for most doctors it is a means to an end. He would be able to either go for a residency there in the UK after a while maybe one year, or conveniently write exams for residency in the USA. All in all he will enjoy his life.. #JAPA

That is why I said Pounds is not Naira. The initial author did not state if he's married. When married, both partners would work. In the UK, a good number of people do not earn upto that. You should check the take home salary of a fresh UK consultant after tax so you can see what I mean by a currency that has value. Also keep in mind that it'd take a UK trained doc upto 10 years to become a consultant.
