Abegi, let's quit blaming government for everything...

This requires little more than all of those fishing families coming together and forming a cooperative, and then either pooling their funds (or even getting a loan as a cooperative) to rent (not even buy, though that would be better) a trawler, fish more efficiently and effectively, and even process some of the catch themselves. There are fishing communities all across the globe doing this, why is our own always different?
The answer is in the strength of the economy.
Even 100 rural fishing families in Nigeria cannot jointly afford a trawler. Those guys are merely surviving. They are very poor.

Taking your definition of "White Men" to encompass all non-African races, It would be educative to read your thoughts regarding these pictured "White People" who live IN the sea, and not just on its edge like the Ilaje, Izon, Urhobo - Nigeria's disparate, yet inter-related traditional fishing and maritime tribal groups.
dude, not every light skinned person is white. There is no white person(caucasian) in those pictures you pasted.

A lot of of useless comments by clueless people basing the sea level rise on natural causes... The sea level changes occur due to a change in climate and scientists & researchers agree that the changes in climate that we are seeing today are largely caused by human activities.

Okay carbon dioxide absorbs heat from the sun and traps it, warming the atmosphere and the planet. And as the planet gets warmer, the sea level rises for two reasons.

First, warmer temperatures cause ice on land like glaciers and ice sheets to melt, and the meltwater flows into the ocean to increase sea level.

Second, warm water expands and takes up more space than colder water, increasing the volume of water in the sea.

Now petroleum fuels climate change due to the increased greenhouse gas emissions in its extraction, refinement, transport and consumption phases.

So yes it's highly possible that the unchecked activities of Chevron is responsible for the changes the people are suffering and they have every damn right to seek govt help. angry

Rising sea levels are NOT the result of oil exploration, but are rather the effects of global warming, and the melting polar ice-caps, which in turn add massive volumes of water to the planet's seas and oceans.

Sadly, it is only going to get worse, such that many areas of Lagos and other coastal cities world-wide, will, over the coming decade, be lost to the sea.

Not only with protecting the shoreline but an engineering plan should be put in place to contain the floods caused by both the River Niger and Benue due to the greenhouse effect.

If Holland can container floods,I'm quite certain a way can be found to arrest the flooding..

A Twitter user, Ademi @AdemiSr has shared a video showing how 'ocean' sacked the community members, destroyed houses and other structures in Ilaje LGA in Ondo State.

The person speaking in the video blamed Chevron for their plight and also cursed the people responsible for their plight.

Ademi who shared the video wrote:

"Hi everyone

If this video gets to your TL please Retweet

My people in Ilaje local government area of ONDO STATE are suffering, they've been neglected by both the federal and state government. Sea has encroached our land

. I was in Ilaje area recently and I saw how people live close to water ..sea water..many even live on water. It is their way of life. I was in Igbokoda. Araromi and so on....They have been there for many years with some students even coming for excursion in the riverine areas.Nobody can relocate the Ilaje people.Water is their life.Their life is water. There is a little government can do in the area apart from electricity and good road construction.Ilaje people have passion for their habitat. However in some cases the sea waves may affect them
It usually happens in Florida too because it is close to water.NEMA can evaluate this and assist them accordingly. Finally Ilaje is a permanent base for Ilaje people .No amount of tweeting and retweeting can relocate them.

This evening the United Kingdom it is reported to be looking at the prospects of relocating coastal towns. Last week Indonesia anounced it was going to move the capital Jakarta due to uncontrolled subsidence.

4 years is the time limit for halting the progress of global warming and it appears nothing will be accomplished before then so it is clear ocean level rises is inevitable.

Stay there and sneer. Na you sabi. Just remember where and when you heard it loud and clear. It will be impossible to live in those places in decades to come.

And they will remain poor if they keep doing what they are doing...
Even if they cannot afford a commercial trawler, they can afford better fishing vessels and equipment.

I have told you this silly, foul mouthed, uncultured and improperly brought up kid to stop mentioning me.

Go and look for your mates that you always do 'Afonja Vs Igbo' tangle.

I don't do inter-tribal contest. We don't operate from the same frequency.

On Joe Igbokwe's (whom I hold in esteem respect) thread, i only responded to a commentator who blamed Buhari/FG for a gully erosion washing a township road in Nnewi or pointed out the difference between Chinese/Lebanese/Indian pattern of migration and Igbo pattern of migration.

SLAP44:
You must also be very "suffersticated" too.

The other day you were running around like a headless chicken on the other thread about Joe Igbokwe, and two days later your own region is facing a bigger environmental disaster and you want to claim educated?

Educated bigot.
