The Kano State High Court has granted an order restraining Governor Abdullahi Ganduje from implementing the breakup of Kano Emirate.

Mr Ganduje signed a law on Wednesday which created an additional four emirates, a move that was widely seen as depletion of Emir Lamido Sanusi’s influence.

The matter immediately took a political dimension with the Peoples Democratic Party members in the House saying that the additional four emirates were not properly created, accusing the All Progressives Congress majority of disregarding extant parliamentary procedures.

Two PDP House members, including the minority leader, told PREMIUM TIMES they received a court order against the new Emirates on Friday afternoon.

I don't like that Ganduje for anything, Even his looks sef looks like a joke... But what do I know? Kano people love him and made him their governor even for the second time...

Which kind yeye court? This is laughable.
Someone should pls tell these pipo that it's the duty of the legislature to make laws. Courts and judges are supposed to interpret these laws and not usurp the authority of the legislative arm of government. Only the president and sultan can actually Wade into this issue, not courts.
The qtn everyone is asking is, what was Emir sanusi doing when the bill to decentralize his emirate was raised till it reached second reading and was passed into law? This issue could have been settled amicably if not for the Emirs Over bloated Ego. He probably has bad advisers as well..

Waste of court’s time

Court can only look into constitutionality of the Emirate Law.
What is unconstitutional in breaking Kano emirate even if the reason is less than altruistic?
Dutse in Jigawa State was not originally an emirate but had to be created when it was made a state capital.
