BeautifulMind2: If true, Then it’s a poor construction technique that will cause massive flooding around surrounding cities and communities. Are they building a dam or a simple bridge that China for example builds 5 or 6 each year. The never had to shut down the yangzhe river or yellow river just to build a simple bridge. Everything in Nigeria is always sideways. 2 Likes |

franchasng:Otondo,, in the 1960s and 1970s vessels and barges sailed the river Niger, bringing goods from Niger Delta to warehouses in Onitsha and Lokoja for onward movement to the North. https://www.dailytrust.com.ng/vessels-yet-to-sail-dredged-river-niger.html 5 Likes |

erico2k2:Fact, River Niger channel is very important to the North and South East to be independent from West, Baro port was started by Yar'adua completed by Buhari, Buhari will want that River port to start functioning before the end of his regime. |

BeautifulMind2:The Southeast is ok with Onne port and is currently using it as we speak as for the North, the dry port should be their focus if they are serious instead of wasting money. We have more pressing issues like constant power. |

You people come up with ever more inventive ways to justify why the south-east and south-south don’t see the same level of attention, investments and pace of federally assisted development as the south-west and core-north! You’re now basically saying the Onitsha port is ready and primed for full operations, but can’t commence just yet because Julius Berger blocked or is it dammed the River Niger! 2 Likes 1 Share |

All the ports in Biafraland must be controlling by IPOB. If not Nigerias propaganda will not work on us. Biafrans must control their future, politics, economy and their land. 2 Likes

BeautifulMind2: Too much Gramma, you seem to be telling us why something can not be done rather than why it should be done. Ever heard of the SUEZ CANAL In Egypt? It's a "man made Port" that has more economical importance than Lagos Sea port, see FG's inability to build a functional port in the East is all about tribalism and politics...any other story is fairytale 4 Likes 1 Share |

What an interesting twist, first they said it was shallow water, then concession issues now it's 2nd Niger Bridge. What next after this? Who builds a port that depends on the completion of a non-existent bridge to function? 2 Likes 1 Share |

Chukazu:Mother vessels can't sail to Onitsha or Baro port, only smaller vessels or barges, it doesn't make Onitsha port less viable or unattractive, Eastern importers already waiting in wings just for FG to declare Onitsha River port of final destination for cargoes, my point is both ports can't function until they complete 2nd Niger bridge. I actually witnessed when Julius Berger was bringing in their containers through barges via Onitsha port |

OboOlora:You're extremely funny. The proposed Biafra landmass includes multiple areas that border the ocean. All they would do is revitalize or construct ports in those places. Calabar, Delta and Portharcourt all have ports that are not fully in use. 1 Like |
