Most anime are adapted from the manga, just like how some movies are adapted from books. So the manga is usually ahead. When the anime starts catching up, they either end the season of the keep adding fillers.

I've entered season 3 of overlord. I wasn't really excited about it at first but it keeps getting better and better. and the music from all 3 seasons has been dope.

I caught up with one punch man's manga.
And I can't wait for the rest of it to be animated.
