I also noticed this prophecy a long time ago

Does that mean Jacob was divinely inspired when pronouncing both blessings and curses on his kids or was he only divinely inspired for Judah? because this is clearly a prophecy and not just a prayer.

If God chose the house of Judah to be the house of the future king David, why did God then choose Saul knowing fully well that the sceptre wouldn't depart from the house of Judah?
The Israelites wanted a king, so when Saul, nursed the idea of being king over Israel in his mind, his showed interest, thereby made him an available candidate, this paved way for God to select him as a people's choice when the Israelites yearned to have an earthly and human king just ike everyone else around them had.

Did Judah do anything to warrant this special treatment of his descendants being singled out as heirs to the throne of Israel?

I know the children of Levi did when they killed their country men to stop their profanity
Yes, he did do something to warrant this special treatment of his descendants being singled out as heirs to the throne of Israel. He saved, a greater tomorrow, little boy's life.

hold up

Saul never nursed kingship in his heart . Intact if you read the book of Samuel he was very timid contrary to his tall , strong and handsome physique. When Samuel wanted to present him to the people he went and his in between the sacks . It was this same timidity that made him mame decisions based on fear rather than on faith in God. gradually, timidity turned to very strong envy that led to the perpetration of wickedness against David and the priests Saul killed.

I believe God only choose him because David ( the rightful heir and seed) wasn't yet born or was still a toddler and the people were impatient. The people told God " Give us a king LIKE the nations around us " - impatience.

God actually planned for a king from whose line Jesus will come but they weren't patient enough for his perfect will so Saul was his permissive will and Saul messed up bad.

God also gave a tall, strong and handsome man like Saul who was a contrast to David both in physique and in heart to show us that he never looks at the outward but the inward

Saul was from a rich family , David a poor one

Saul was noble from birth , David a poor shepherd

Saul was tall and handsome , David ruddy and rough

But Saul's heart in a little discomfort would cut corners and do evil. David , even when his life was on the line( Saul wanted to kill him) chose to obey God.

Nobody will see David and see a king , not even his own father. But the ways of God are not the ways of man.

Which little boys life?

For your second answer , I already know why God chose Judah but I won't say anything.

Shalom sir.

I never had a question that warranted a second answer sister.

Sister, God's original plan was to be Israel's King, but Israel weren't having none of that and so too Saul secretly nursed to be king hence how he because of circumstances got the crown.

The little boy, the greater tomorrow come true, who really later became a big shot when he turned into being a prime minister is the one sister.

The more information I share, the less visible you see sister, so why not just go ahead and share what you think or say it is, why God chose Judah to bless him the way he was so blessed, please?

Jacobs home was a terrible place for children to grow up in

This was because the man of the house wasn't really a man

It was a typical polygamous home , as we see today were bickering, malice and selfishness pervades the atmosphere

Nothing grows , nothing works

It got to the extent that the man of the house didn't even have a say on the names of his children

If you read the whole of Genesis 29 -30 you'll see that it was his wives that were given the kids names.

Off course , it is expected that when angry women give names they give according to their anger.

In other words, they give to "pepper" their mates.

That was Leah's agenda.

She didn't have the love of her husband but she had the children and would use that against her sister.

If you read through Genesis 29 vs 31 to 34

Genesis e LORD saw that Leah was not loved, he enabled her to conceive, but Rachel remained childless. Leah became pregnant and gave birth to a son. She named him Reuben, for she said, “It is because the LORD has seen my misery. Surely my husband will love me now.”
She conceived again, and when she gave birth to a son she said, “Because the
LORD heard that I am not loved, he gave me this one too.” So she named him Simeon.
Again she conceived, and when she gave birth to a son she said, “Now at last my husband will become attached to me, because I have borne him three sons.” So he was named Levi

You would see that all the three kids God gave Leah out of mercy she kept trying to use them to get affection from her husband.

She never returned the glory to God who looked upon her with mercy.

She kept using her sons to "pepper" her sister forgetting that it is God who gives children.

All the meanings of their names don't give glory to God but to her ability to bear children and her selfish desires.

It wasn't until Vs 35 she received sense

She conceived again, and when she gave birth to a son she said, "THIS TIME I WILL PRAISE THE LORD." So she named him Judah. [ 5 ] Then she stopped having children.

JUDAH means praise

Judah was the first of Jacobs seed that was dedicated to God.

Leah left her canality at that point and was became spiritual, just like Peter when he confessed Jesus was the son of God.

Remember Samuel. God sealed Anna's womb until she dedicated her first child to him.

Many mother's have been responsible either knowingly or unknowingly dedicating their Sons to God to become pastors.

God works in mysterious ways you know.

That dedication put the seal on the fruits of Judah . Despite his own short comings.

He was a drunk and had twins with a Canaanite woman.

Judah was the progenitor of the saviour , Joseph was the sstar child of the house of Jacob

Judah was the progenitor of the saviour, Joseph was the sstar child of the house of Jacob
"26Then Judah said to his brothers, “What profit will we gain if we kill our brother and cover up his blood?
27Come, let us sell him to the Ishmaelites and not lay a hand on him; for he is our brother, our own flesh.” And they agreed.
28So when the Midianite traders passed by, his brothers pulled Joseph out of the pit and sold him for twenty shekels of silver to the Ishmaelites, who took him to Egypt
"
- Genesis 37:26-28

"8And Judah said to his father Israel, “Send the boy with me, and we will go at once, so that we may live and not die—neither we, nor you, nor our children.
9I will guarantee his safety. You may hold me personally responsible! If I do not bring him back and set him before you, then let me bear the guilt before you all my life.
10If we had not delayed, we could have come and gone twice by now.”
"
- Genesis 43:8-10

18But Judah approached him and begged him, “Your Excellency, please allow your servant to speak to you privately.i Please don’t be angry with your servant, since you are equal to Pharaoh.
19Your Excellency asked his servants, ‘Do you have a father or brother?’
20and we answered Your Excellency, ‘We have an aged father and a younger child who was born when he was old. His brother is now dead, so he’s the only surviving son of his mother. His father loves him.’
21“But then you ordered your servants, ‘Bring him here to me so I can see him for myself.’
22So we told Your Excellency, ‘The young man cannot leave his father, because if he were to do so, his father would die.’
23But then you told your servants, ‘Unless your youngest brother comes back with you, you won’t see my face again.’
24Later on, after we had gone back to your servant, my father, we told him what Your Excellency had said.
25“‘Go back,’ our father ordered, ‘and buy us a little food.’
26“But we told him, ‘We can’t go back there. If our youngest brother accompanies us, we’ll go back, but we cannot see the man’s face again unless our youngest brother accompanies us.’
27“Then your servant, our father, told us, ‘You know my wife bore me two sons.
28One of them left me, so I concluded “I’m certain that he has been torn to pieces,” and I haven’t seen him since then.
29If you take this one from me, too, and then something harmful happens to him, then it will be death for me and my sad, gray hair!’
30“So when I go back to your servant, my father, and the young man isn’t with us, since he’s constantly living life focused on his son,
31when he notices that the young man hasn’t come back with us, he’ll die, and your servants really will have brought death to your servant, our father, along with his sad, gray hair!
32Also, your servant pledged his own life asm a guarantee of the young man’s safety. I told my father, ‘If I don’t bring him back to you, you can blame me forever.’
33Therefore, please allow your servant to remain as a slave to Your Excellency, instead of the young man, and let the young man go back home with his brothers.
34After all, how can I go back to my father if the young man doesn’t accompany me? I’m afraid of what might happen to my father.”

- Genesis 44:18-34

We all have our frailties, Jacob you, others and I, so I can live with all you typed up above, it's good and tasty, but let me add the spice and sauce to it to give it more kick.

We know that Judah wasnt even the firstborn, he was the fourth born, but he apparently was a naturally born leader, hence how he was able to take lead and convince his brothers not to kill little boy Joseph, but to sell him off into slavey. It is this first initiative in Genesis 37:26-28 above and the other two opportunities in Genesis 43:8-10 and Genesis 44:18-34 also above, where he, Judah as usual, acted before others did, to assume power, lead and take charge of tricky situations, that singled him out as worthy to have that blessing.

"8Then Judah said to Er's brother Onan, "Go and sleep with your brother's widow.
Fulfill your obligation to her as her husband's brother, (i.e. apparently as the levitical law marriage requires) so that your brother may have descendants.
24About three months later, Judah was told, “Your daughter-in-law Tamar has prostituted herself, and now she is pregnant.”
“Bring her out!” Judah replied. “Let her be burned to death!”
25As she was being brought out, Tamar sent a message to her father-in-law:
“I am pregnant by the man to whom these items belong.”
And she added, “Please examine them. Whose seal and cord and staff are these?”
26Judah recognized the items and said,
“She is more righteous than I, since I did not give her to my son Shelah.” And he did not have relations with her again.
"
- Genesis 38:8, 24-26

Judah was not just someone with leadership traits, he also was a stickler for the law and/or rules. He, in his quest, to follow rules and standing up for others, is known to insists on things be done in a certain way. Like for example, in Genesis 38:8 above, where Judah insisted and compelled Onan to do the right thing for his dead brother and his wife, Tamar. It was same Judah, who inadvertently and technically himself, at the end, performed the levirate marriage law duty for Tamar and later on in Genesis 38:26, also saved her from being burnt to death for deemed to have had illicit sex.

"The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come;
and unto him shall the gathering of the people be.
"
- Genesis 49:10

Now the sceptre, is an ornamental staff held by a ruling monarch, as a symbol of power, and so, Jacob was going by Judah's antecedents and track record, when he pronouced the blessing on Judah the way or manner he did in Genesis 49:10 above.

generationz, cycling back to Saul after all the above, said about Judah, do you know the exact words Samuel said to Saul, I mean what he told Saul first, before telling him not to worry about the missing donkeys, as they've already been found?
Repeat here the exact words, what Samuel told Saul, please, if you do.

generationz:
Are you saying God Chose Saul because he wanted it. Even if it wasn't Gods perfect Will

so anything I want in my heart will be granted?
God chose Saul because He could see from Saul's thoughts and aspirations that he wanted to be a king. Though, it wasnt God's perfect will, God permitted Saul's dream and wish, all the same, a handsome young man. There was not a man among the people of Israel more handsome than he. From his shoulders upward he was taller than any of the people, to come true.

Look at Saul's pretence response in 1 Samuel 9:21, pretending like he isnt at all interested, to what Samuel, in 1 Samuel 9:20 said about him: "But who is it that the people of Israel want so much? It is you--you and your father's family."

You can want anything in your heart generationz but remember the buck ends with God. Remember Jesus' prayer in Matthew 26:39: "“My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will."

Exodus 33 'verse.. 19 to 23...

Moses said.. Show me your glory God..

God replied..

" And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before thee;

and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy."
(Exodus 33: 19)

God said... You cannot see my face and live..

You should stay on a rock near me and I will hide you in a cliff. and I will cover you with my hand while I pass.

Then I will pass and you will see my back...

What!!!!!!!!! God honoured this guy Moses... I am sure he had to reduced himself so that Moses can see a part..

He created the sun. Can Moses stand 10 feet to the sun?

This is mystery :

How do you think Moses wrote the book of Genesis when he was not created then?

Because he saw a part of God.. Some revelations became visible to him..

This guy!!! This Moses!!! This Gooodddddddd!!!!!!!
Your face, your eyes, to be precise, is the window to your soul, and I think its Oscar Wilde, that said a man's face is his autobiography.

Notice that God's Exodus 33:19-20 reply, to Moses' Exodus 33:18 daring and audacious request, where Moses said: "I beseech thee, shew me thy glory.", was:
"19I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy.
20And He said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live.
"

Moses wanted to know about tomorrow, but God said, no, as nobody knows about tomorrow and live. Tomorrow is a mystery. Nobody can see into tomorrow to know what is going on in it nor the future about what's going on in it.

Anyway, God, climbed down a bit, and in effect, told Moses that, He will put Moses in the cleft of the rock and he will see His back. He will show him His back, as in, the past, show him about yesterday(s). He will show Moses how He started creation, show him how He created the first man and woman, show him how He did all the good things, that all His goodness He will cause them to live stream before Moses. He will demonstrate and clearly show the truth of His name by showing Moses proof and/or evidence of it, but His face, Moses cannot see, he can't see into the future.

So Moses literally was subjected to watching a playback of events. Creation was wound back to the beginning for Moses to watch, it was like as if, Moses, with popcorn in hands, was watching a rewinded film or movie video. That in essence, is how the Pentateuch got written, that was how Moses got and managed to write up the book of Genesis
