You belong to the 18th century. If not then you need exposure to come to level with reality.
I am managing my own business and I beleive job should be left for the young blood because they still have the drive to work harder. This old people comes to office to sleep. Just go round in government establishment and see how lazy this people are. My opinion though.

we need more jobs that's the main problem of Nigeria. Every year there are 100 thousands of graduates. How many jobs or opportunity is being added yearly, 10s of thousands. I finished since 2014 bt haven't gotten a good job up till now, even with my Msc. Fvck the Nigerian system, fvck the government

Calm down. I finished since 2011. And I don't have a job either.... So I started a business. Why don't you try to start up a little thing? You might even end up employing people, you can create jobs for others too. And Forget the government. They won't do nothing for you.

Work no dey for newer graduates yet they want the old long graduates to compete with the new graduates on the unavailable jobs.

Lets hope the law places emphasis on the year of graduation and not age upon graduation.

Those with over 10years of graduation certificate should become vulcanizers, mechanics, bricks layer. Let those with some savings become farmers, traders and em em prostitutes they need startup capital.

Well, I believe that any economy where government is the largest employer of labour outside defense is a dead economy ,example ;Nigeria's economy , let's look at it this way, I'm of the opinion that the federal government should fire 80% of her work force, because the job of government is not to employ jobless citizens rather to create enabling environment for private sector to do what they know how to do best, which is create jobs.

The reason you see people sleeping in government jobs is that a lot of the employees are relatives of politicians who are hired just to do nothing, in fact some offices have 30 persons on a job that just one man is capable of doing. Hence you have sleeping staffs all over.

But back to our discussion, I have worked with a lot of men and women in their 60s and 70s,(western world) they are more experienced, punctual and hard working than guys in their 20s and 30s.

I'm ashamed to say that they outlast me in some task at times, even though I try to beat them yet they outdo me effortlessly.

I have noticed that in advanced societies, the only jobs that have age clause is military and that's for first time recruits, if you have served in U.S. Military once then you can always reenlist, as long as you are less than 45 but if the military really needs personnel then you are free to rejoin if you are in good physical condition .

Yakubu Dogara, Speaker House of Representatives

The House of Representatives on Wednesday abolished age discrimination against job seekers in Federal Government Ministries, Agencies and Departments (MDAs).

This followed the passage, by the lawmakers, of a “Bill for an Act to Eradicate the Age Discrimination against Job seekers in Federal Government Agencies,” sponsored by Sergius Ogun (APC, Edo) and Babajimi Benson (APC, Lagos).

The bill, which was read for the second time in 2018, subsequently passed third reading after unanimous adoption by the lawmakers and Speaker Yakubu Dogara.

Ogun, moving a motion for a third reading of the bill, said the new law seeks to ensure that no Nigerian job seeker is disqualified from government employment on the basis of age.

He noted that the bill, when enacted, would first take effect in Federal Government MDAs with the hope that private employers of labour would follow suit later.

“It is a key responsibility of we parliamentarians, as representatives of the people, to ensure that no Nigerian job seeker is discriminated against with regard to age in employment opportunities in Federal Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs),” Ogun submitted.

The lawmaker added that the bill would also ensure that the fundamental human rights of job seekers are safeguarded while significantly reducing the spiralling number of unemployed graduates and school leavers on the streets.

He lamented that the incessant strikes by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has made it almost impossible for Nigerian university students to graduate within stipulated time, hence the necessity of the bill.

Meanwhile, Benson, a co-sponsor of the bill, pointed out that apart from age, sex, religion and ethnicity, were other variables in which discrimination is rampant in government employment.

He therefore called for the abolition of such barriers that “deprives qualified, energetic, and patriotic Nigerians the opportunity to fulfil their goals and contribute to societal development.”

In his contribution, Deputy Speaker, Yusuf Lasun (APC, Osun) argued that the major aim of the bill has been taken care of by relevant provisions of the 1999 Constitution as amended, which if enforced, could be taken advantage of by anyone affected by discrimination in government employment.

For House spokesman, Abdulrazak Namdas (APC, Adamawa), age ceiling for job seekers could only apply to societies with stable education calendar, not in Nigeria with recurring strikes, especially in public universities.

When put to voice vote by Speaker Yakubu Dogara, the bill was unanimously adopted and passed for third reading.
