I sincerely doubt that the VO will listen to him. Please tell him to cancel the appointment and book under the right category or face getting bounced on his interview day. Also, it's been said here that some scholarship recipients do get interviewed in Abuja (even before this new booking system)

I guess he is ready to take that chance

People residing in Abuja I just got information that someone was posted to the Abuja consulate for interview. All he did was to put his location as Abuja when booking.
Edit: He later said he booked under category A and and said yes he has scholarship even without scholarship, hoping to explain to the Vo on the day of his interview

abeg ask your guy how he take put his location in the form because when I booked I did not see address or location in the new booking system oo

With Category A, there is an option to select Abuja. Category B doesn't have that option.

Oh I see.

It depends on when it expired
If it’s a really long time then cancel
If it’s like a week or so then you don’t need to cancel
Take the old and new passport and show the VO. They see cases like this often and they would tell you it’s not an issue
When submitting passport and insurance, you would send only your new passport

This your advice get as e be for the following reason:
First, there is currently an option for him to cancel and re-book for the visa interview. The question they’ll ask him would be why did he refuse to do that?
Second, he ought to know that his passport would have expired before the time of the interview. It was clearly stated that there would be a gap of 2-3 months between the date of announcement and the interview date.
@ olamitodotun14
If you can read this, cancel and rebook, my two cents.
This is not the usual winter!! cheesy

I was offered admission to study in Munich (MSc). I did my enrollment in proxy and funded before visa interview. It’s been 4 weeks into lectures now and I’m not yet in Germany because of delay in visa. The last info I got from the embassy is that my visa application is still under review. Since lectures have already started, would this negatively affect the outcome of my visa?

Re: General German Student Visa Enquiries Part 6 by sassy92(f): 2:00pm On May 16, 2019
I second this. He stated that his passport expired in 2017. 2017 fa!!!! the first question they will ask you is why did you book appointment with a long expired passport Please don't take the chance, cancel then apply for a new date WITH A VALID PASSPORT.

hi guys. pls i need help.
i did my interview march 18 and i got AM apil 10, i sent travel insurance and all on the 11th and they didn't issue my visa till deadline passed my deadline was April 15th. on the 16th the embassy asked me if my school allows for later resumption but the school didn't allow but they deferred my admission so i sent the letter to the embassy and since then haven't heard anything, I've mailed and called yet nothing. What can I do
Re: General German Student Visa Enquiries Part 6 by sassy92(f): 2:03pm On May 16, 2019
I know someone who got to germany 7 weeks after lectures started. he said it was difficult to catch up and he had to drop some courses (Schooling in Germany no be beans). So it depends on you and your course. If it's engineering, I will advise you defer to next semester so that you can be ready. But if you feel that you can catch up, then fine.

I'm currently in a fix right now. Just applied for appointment at the embassy but did booking with my expired passport and I'm yet to receive my renewed passport which should be around next week. Now I was just informed that my passport number will likely change( I wasn't aware about this) as against the one I used in booking appointment. What do you guys think I should do? The passport expired 2017. Should I cancel the appointment or mail them and explain.

Nothing to worry about. Just go with both passports. Don't cancel and rebook cos there are a lotttttttttttttttt of people who booked since last week and haven't gotten dates yet.
So just go with both passports on ur date. And show them to your VO. normally, ur new passport would carry all old information.
Someone here has done that before, and is currently in DE

It cost the embassy absolutely nothing to deny anyone with a wrong passport number an entrance to her premises. It is left for the dude in question to play safe or not. Cancel your booking, speed up the collection of your new passport and book with the new passport number.

Always play safe and act smart.

God's speed
