Awolowo basicaly grew up in Ibadan, but Adelabu is an ibadan indegene so awolowo was hated for lording over ibadan people and been from ogun. all of awolowos, investments like Nigerian tribune and his old home are still intact in ibadan. while he became an hero after death he had fierce enemies back then

@iammo is writing nonsense. Lack of history in schools cause misinformation and distortion of the facts

1. Awolowo did not grow up in Ibadan, though he spent a lot of his adult life there.

2.At the time Ibadan was the capital of the Western region which comprised of what is now Ogun, oyo, Osun, Ekiti, Ondo, Edo and Delta states, yes even Edo and Delta!! Mid West region (Edo Delta) was later carved out of the Western region after independence (long after Awo's time as premier)

3. Awolowo was never head of ibadan Municipal government, he was premier of the Western region

4. Awolowo did not become premier because of Ibadan people, he was popular in the other regions of the western region so he would have won even without Ibadan votes

5. Awolowo NEVER lived in any govt residence including Govt house Agodi. throughout his reign as Premier 1952-59 and Federal Minister of Finance 1967-70, Awolowo always stayed in his private residences at Oke bola Ibadan and park Lane Apapa.
