You may be correct but that is a subjective issue but the truth is many Nigerians are not serious. The average Nigerian is more interested in the path of least resistance. You opted for employment based path not because it was the easiest but because your motivation was based on principles and determination. A number of your folks were distracted along the way, many overwhelmed by the American culture, even those married felt no qualms remarrying to obtain Green card, and others without the dexterity for higher education. Most of these ones have the financial backing but unfortunately couldn't follow through. In your case 80% were dropouts and that's not very different in other schools. If you could succeed other could. I will only excuse those in the minority without the financial capability to finish their studies.

I have once stated in this thread that 'it will be great to see those who have the means to stick to what brought them here in the first place."

I totally agree with you that many Nigerians lost their track immediately they got here due to circumstances that include life/self imposed (as previously stated in my other post). We have seen many sons and daughters of well to do Nigerians, who have both the mental and financial capacity to complete their education but abandoned their dreams.

Congratulations on your employment offer! While no one here has definitive answer as to what questions you might be asked at the embassy, I will advise you about the following:

Display a good grasp of every detail listed on your resume.

Learn about the company you plan to join in the States. This might include what they do, your role in advancing their mission, why you consider them as a good company to join etc.

You should also demonstrate to the Consular Officer that you understand the type of visa for which you are interviewing. This is because U.S. grants many work visas and there are various terms to each of those visas.

Good luck on your interview!

You have received good pointers from Thedream1900.

This is more like a generic information for others.

There are over 100 visa types issued by the US but I want to believe that your category falls under the H1B or EB visa categories.

These different classes take different processing times.

It is also a different process when you are in the US compared to when you are outside the US.

The interview can be extensive and your visa could be denied regardless of whether or not your petition is approved. Consular officers has powers

Take all necessary forms and documents along for the interview.

You should be well versed in the position that you will be filling. From your day to day tasks to your wages, the officer will likely question the specifics of your job in the U.S. It is important to remember that the purpose of the visa interview is to detect people who are attempting to enter the U.S. through fraudulent means. If your employment and qualifications are legitimate, then your interview experience should not be stressful.

Like I tell everyone if you are "good" the US needs you more than you need them.

What matters is your CGPA, not your class of degree. Convert your CGPA using the WES online CGPA calculator, and if your CGPA is at least 3.0/4.0 , then you've got a high chance.
ok thanks smiley

I don't know if there is a topic about H1B visa on this platform but I have searched and could not find one.

There is no denying the fact that both indians and chinese dominate the pool for employment based visa in the U.S., but I believe there are Nigerians pursuing this highly coveted work visa/permanent residency. I'm pursuing my American dream through this path and would like to hear/share ideas with other Nigerians with similar experience.

Thank you!

Hello Theveez,

Sorry, I don't know anything about Wevesti.com. Are you based in Nigeria or the U.S.? Mine was processed from the states, so my experience will be quite different from those doing the process from Nigeria.
