Like the guy who answered first, it was kind of built specifically for the asian markets where they predominantly use RHD. So most Altis are converted from RHD to LHD to suit some European countries and some African countries as well.
And secondly, the Altis interior is believed to be more comfy and luxurious than the normal corolla.
