I am moving gradually unto depression, unconsciously. At over 30, I have no job, wife or children All job adverts keep asking for, '...below 24' and I am over 30. All applications and CVs sent through the social media and job sites have only landed me only one interview since 2018 that I have been applying. Only a very few of my applications were replied even after using, LinkedIn and several other job sites to include NL. With respect to my job search, please advise base on this facts; * I studied Accounting (BSc) (2.2) * I am chartered * I am above 30 * and unemployed Motivational insults are acceptable 1 Like 1 Share |

It's never too late to start. Don't wait for someone to employ you. I am not advocating that you drop your degree. But it's time to look for something and start. If you invest your all, it'll blossom. Don't be in a hurry to marry and have kids without any financial security because the way you rush in, that's how you'll rush out. Brother, have you tried learning a skill and consider offering them on freelance sites? Things you can learn at the comfort of your home: Web design/Development Graphics Design 3D deaign (Autodesk Maya, Cinema 4D, Lumion, Unreal Engine etc... If you are good at writing, you'd give a shot at some freelancing site. You can learn all these for free! 1 Like |

Op I understand how you feel, you have every right to be angry and sad. From your write up, it seems most jobs you applied for were advertised online and of course you know that anything online in Nigeria there is so much politics involved. If it was abroad, you would be given equal opportunity, However all hope is not lost. Why don't you start your masters degree programme, while looking for job. Where is your location? You can attend events well dressed, network and make connections. You can also cold call on offices to submit your cv. Restrategize and put Jesus first, you would definetly make it. 6 Likes |

Start from somewhere. Teach in a school; grow and move on. My friend drove maruwa after graduation from unilag for almost a year. He didn’t know anybody there. He walked to the chairman and told them he needed a job. He made money and sponsored his master degree program. Another friend relocated to lag from saggy like 5 years ago without any degree and taught music in a secondary school and played keyboard in a church. He saved up for his OND program at Yaba tech. OP, many are in the same category just as you are. Depression will not solve the issue rather make it worse. I'll advise, you work more on yourself. I'm sure you've heard this several times. But it's the REAL truth. You have to be stern with yourself. Your life can change in a year. When I say change I mean all rounder. But it's all stringed on you. *Consume yourself with knowledge. (Read, watch) *Learn a skill; (from YouTube, from training centres.) *Be positive; you can't keep carrying aa depressed look and expect the right people to come your way. *Sell yourself where you go. ( Be so good they can't ignore you ). Great salesman know this trick. *Take some days off, just with yourself, phone off, notepad available, pen. Ask yourself heartfelt questions, and demand answers. * Stick with all these judisciously with all discipline, and I bet you in 6months, you'll have a different story.
