ZAMFARA: A NOVEL CONSTITUTIONAL PRECEDENCE
From the Supreme Court judgement today and my analysis of the Zamfara State declared Guber results vis-a-vis the declaration of the Apex Court ''that the runner-up candidate be sworn in if he fulfills the constitutional requirement of getting one quarter of the total votes cast in at least two-third of the local government areas of the state''. The PDP may not benefit from the judgement as being speculated. Here is my analysis.

The PDP did not win any of the 14 Local Government Areas in the last Gubernatorial polls in Zamfara state, APC won all. However, PDP had one-quarter (25%) of the total votes cast in only 6 (Anka, Bukkuyum, Maradum, Buggundu, Kaura Namoda and Maru LGs) while it did not make the 25% requirement in the remaining 8 (Bakura, Gunmi, Zurmi, Birnin Mogaji, Gusau, Shinkafi and Tsafe). Mathematically, two-third of 14 (LGs) is 9. Thus, Zamfara may not have a substantive Governor come May 29, 2019. Even if the Chief Judge assumes the Acting Governor's role, there may still not be any elected members of the House of Assembly to be inaugurated. So the CJ will be a Sole Administrator.

Hope the governor won't waste this mandate as he seems not to be popular among zamfara voters.
Apc with all their crisis were still able to defeat PDP with a very high margin. The new government should do everything in his power to change people perception of PDP in zamfara
APC is to Zamfara what pdp is to Rivers.....

I might be wrong but that state has been in the hands of anpp/APC save for a short stint with pdp,if any sef..........

So like you earlier said,if the Gov don't decamp he will need to work massive hard...

PDP will now have all the elected government officials and may benefit from those likely to leave APC. it will be hard but not impossible.
you can't compare zamfara to River. River and Delta are two state that opposition sometimes struggle to get enough people to lead the party. at least PDP have a structure in zamfara and now they have their members in every position.

Which inec? The supreme Court is the last order in the land. Inec job is to conduct election and they have already declare the person with most votes as winner of the election. Since there are doubts about who actually got the most votes, the court did it job by helping us identify those who got the highest votes

In this case, not the candidate with the highest vote but the candidate who emerged through a properly conducted primaries.

The votes in favor of APC were termed "wasted votes" by the Supreme Court, therefore they are not valid. Therefore, there's no way PDP will not meet the requirements

Yes,the supreme court said 'IF' the runner up meets the constitutional requirements.

Who is to determine that?
Is it not INEC?

What if INEC said tomorrow that the voided votes are higher than the difference between PDP and the nearest part and call for re run?

You can not just throw away the 500k people that came out and do accreditation and voted for APC even though APC was not suppose to he there.

So,are you going to punish those voters and waste their votes for INEC mistake?

Let's wait for INEC tomorrow to clear us
