valentineuwakwe:FG clearly left a vacuum by refusing to do so. Nature abhors vacuum. Suppressing civil war discourse has handed the narrative to various groups to shape. Where all sides involved cannot contribute meaningfully to get a more balanced view. In essence those who died on both sides are/were still officially Nigerians. Honouring them as Nigerians by FG should not be problem. 1 Like |

Restlessness, thoughtless and foolish agitation, lack of sensible elders and leadership won't let this region prosper. Constantly denying yourselves economic growth, critically needed revenue and progress won't kill the FG or any entity beyond your borders, the economic loss is your loss. No wonder this region is one of the poorest regions in Nigeria. |

Peoples are free to express themselves in whatever civil way they so choose. To remember their fallen and the cause for which they were lost cannot be denied amd for any to oppose that is cruel and dehumanizing. Never in history has the collective will of a people for liberty has been denied. The strength of nations on the other hand has been a result of collective bargaining under the tree of equity and justice. Nigeria is not an equitable and just nation. Thst is why it simply cannot progress. That is why every year, every government, every generation appears worse than the previous. If any man cannot see the downward spiral this country is heading, either through ignorance or grand deception, then he is not mentally fit to be a citizen. This country needs to be restructured, simple. I implore my friends, the good people of the East to persevere in bringjng to light the injustices prevalent in this country. Be patient. Nigeria can still be made to work for you. To work for everyone. |

ALMUSTAQIM: Thanks for at least acknowledging that the sit-at-home worked in the past. You people have always denied it never worked. When this year becomes past, you will also agree it worked. 1 Like |

Bbygirlnextdoor: They dont like it when Igbos unite to do something. They want us to be perpetually divided and irrelevant. These are the same people who were fighting for June 12th to be recognised nationally but when other people take a day to remember those they lost in battle, they start screaming So pained because they cannot control Igbos |

kayojosephy:there Is No Conseqency. Before Fg Made June 12 Democracy Day, SW Governor Including Lagos Declares Public Holiday On June 12. May29, Boxing Day, Chrismas Day Salah Holiday And Any Other Holliday Did Not Cripple The Economy Of The Country. So 1 Day To Honour Millions That Died The Govt Want To Sweep Their Memory Under The Carpet Can Not Worsen The Economy. Govt Policy Do. |

buharitill2023:I have written about this many times before here. This is not just about a military parade but a nationwide event. Including veterans on both sides. In the last 30 years how many nationwide conferences or symposia have you seen to dispassionately discuss the civil war? What we hear are provocative statements from both sides. |
