Trucks Back To Ikorodu Road Following Sanwo-Olu's Visit To Apapa - Photos by AutoReportNG2: 11:22am On May 31, 2019 |
Following the Presidential directive for the evacuation of trucks and trailers from Lagos roads of which a Presidential committee was charged with carrying out the responsibility, the committee gave a 72 hours ultimatum to trucks and trailers operators to be on queue to move into the Apapa ports and leave the bridges and roads which has been converted into vehicle park, creating traffic gridlock and constituting a nuisance to other road users. Of note is the success recorded with the evacuation of the trucks and trailers from Ikorodu road and Eko bridge at the expiration of the 72 hours ultimatum on Sunday 26th May, 2019. While the committee was about moving to the Apapa Mile 2 axis, the Ikorodu road and Eko bridge suffered a relapse of trailers and trucks reemergence in the last 12 hours as a result of the blockade of the roads into the Apapa port as a security measure for the physical inspection of the Apapa ports area and environs by Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, his deputy Dr. Obafemi Kadri Hamzat and security chiefs yesterday Thursday 30th May, 2019. The Presidential committee is resolved and working round the clock to ensure that the trucks and trailers are evacuated from the Ikorodu road and Eko bridge where they have suddenly reemerged as well as on the Apapa Mile 2 Oshodi expressway corridor where they have locked down Lagos traffic and constituted public nuisance within the shortest possible time, while calling for the support and cooperation of Lagosians in carrying out the Presidential directive to the latter within the stipulated 2 weeks. The patience and understanding of the motoring public is highly appreciated in making Lagos roads and bridges free of parked trailers and trucks and the Apapa ports accessible for the ease of doing business. Maket:No position is permanent forever, what u took from someone will definitely be either taken from you or handed to another person. When u meet yourself in such position, do your best And let your legacy speak for u. The trailers will be removed when buhari is visiting or when elections are close by. 5 Likes |

Why is the govt stressing themselves they have to get Smart, all they have to do is deal with the importers let them register the trucks they want to assess the port at the time they want it to assess the port any other truck without clearance and a tag with direction to whom hired them, when and where the port gate, they are supposed to load, should be seized they don't even need a well mapped out yard, clear some bushes along Ibadan express way dump them there, establish a mopol unit or SARS unit there and make sure they pay heavily before they leave the place - th#t fee would serve as a money earning venture for SARS or mopol departments, indiscipline deserves an unusual disciplined approach to solve 2 Likes |
